May I ask what brand the root beer was?

Also I tried Beef Jerky once a very VERY long time ago, I think I enjoyed it because I ate the whole package (small package) although my dad made fun of me for it saying I was eating cow lips.
It was A&W.
I'm blaming the brand for that one, not the type of drink itself, but I still don't think rootbeer is something I'll like.
I'm more of a ginger beer kind of person.

Edit: But I really need to get to bed now.

Well right there is your answer, A&W is the WORST root beer ever, I am what you might call a "Root Beer Connoisseur" and I can tell you A&W sucks butt! Try Barqs or Mug Root beer (they are WAY better)

What was the brand of Root Beer you bought?

In the case of root beer, I'm not blaming the drink itself, only the particular brand.
I'm sure it can be done well, but that stuff tasted like baking soda and vanilla.
I like A&W, though can't say I've ever tasted baking soda, but I guess this means I like the taste of baking soda or you got a bad batch of root beer. I for one think that foreign imports(depending on what it is) don't survive the trip from having been shipped improperly or just not translating well to being moved overseas.

Though, I find your choice to be hilarious that you don't like it, considering it is kind of seen by some as America's mascot root beer. Heck, A&W even has its own fast food chain, usually in my area seen paired in a double store with KFC.

My personal favorite though is:
Though one reason I like it more then most root beers is that Barq's adds caffeine. I don't think I've found any other root beer that does so.

On the talk about salty candy, some is good. I've had salty black licorice, which was tolerable but not something I would push kids down in a checkout line to get too. The only thing that I really like sweet and salty wise is chocolate and salt. Chocolate covered pretzels and such.

Though, one of the best things in fast food is going to Wendy's, getting a chocolate frosty and fries, and dipping the salty fries in the frosty. To throw people off even more, I also like to do the same thing with my chicken nuggets. Frosty nuggets...Mmmmm.

Uuggh! I hate Mug, bleh!

Right now here is my root beer ranking of the ones I actually remember tasting.

1.)Barq's(Hooray! Caffeine!)
2.)Stewart's
3.)IBC
4.)A&W
5.)Cheap store brand knock-off(doesn't matter what store).
Last(won't give a number because there are probably root beers out there I haven't tried that are better.) Mug

I've never liked that bulldog mascot, he just looks too smug for his own good.

At least visit a good Indian restaurant, or follow a good recipe to make your own before writing off such diverse food.
I cannae cook worth crap[footnote]Although I did learn how to boil water a few weeks ago :D[/footnote], and a fear of feeling like shit if I get somebody to drive me to an Indian restaurant [footnote]Which I'm sure if we even have around here.[footnote]Yet we have at least 3 Mexican ones.[/footnote][/footnote] just to find out I don't like it.
I'm very self-concious about these things. Had something similar happen once before, felt terrible the rest of the trip.

I do plan on trying it again someday though, but not until I can make it myself and when I'm alone.
I do want to like it you know, I actually really do. Usually I don't for these things.

Well, there's different types of beef jerky...
"Jack Link's meat snacks
Beef jerky
original
Family quality guaranteed"

Is what the bag says.
Well, there's your problem. Most beef jerky brands overdo it with the salt, you just have to keep looking.

I actually like beef jerky and i can tell you that jack links is a shitty brand they only get away with it by being cheap and easy to find (even more so with that slim jim shit XP)
unforunatly my favorite comes from a guy at my local farmers market who does organic butchering as well as a beef jerky and smoked cheeses so I can not really suggest a different brand but jerky does very a lot brand to brand so I suggest trying a few more before throwing in the towel

Actually, I found Jack Link's to contain way too little salt.

...there are two commercially available beef jerky brands that are worth a damn (and I know they make it to Europe at times, it was my field exercise snack of choice when I was stationed in Germany):

I don't say that just because it's local for me and I grew up on their stuff, honest.
Best damn cheddar cheese in the world, too.
But even those tend to pale in comparison to what a small-time beef farmer makes in his smokehouse.

As for root beer... well, Sioux City Sarsaparilla would be among the best. IBC and Henry Weinhard's aren't bad, either. Much like real beer, the hugely widespread mass-produced stuff is crap.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002OFU7MK/ You're welcome, enjoy the beef jerky.

The strips of beef jerky are kind of crap and really meant more for camping and hiking where food that doesn't go bad and doesn't take up a lot of space is valued. Try the stuff I linked to and you might actually like it.

Fair enough. A couple of years ago I thought I couldn't cook at all, but when I went to university and started actually trying I realised how simple it was. It's literally just following instructions, and is so much more satisfying than just buying everything like so many other people I know do.

Definitely try eating curry again though, it's more like an entire type of cuisine than just one particular dish. Instant anything is going to be mediocre at best to be honest.

I want to know where the hell you were shopping. I can't even get brioche that tastes like brioche in most places.

I suggest deer, kangaroo, alligator, and ostrich jerky rather than this strange mush in a can claiming to be jerky. The beef variety is probably the most bland without heaps of peppercorn.

OT: Pocky, it's just a crunchy bread stick dipped in cheap chocolate and people rant and rave about it as if Japan has invented a reason to live.
