The Bard's tale hasn't been mentioned. It's a little old and the gameplay's kind of shit but it didn't take itself too seriously and ended up being quite funny and enjoyable :)

Exactly! Even the disk made me laugh

Fortunatelly there are a lot of funny games (for example Borderlands 2, Portal, Catherine), but I will go with Lollipop Chainsaw, only because noboday mentioned it yet ^^

Gonna go with something different than a lot of people would say here, but Sam And Max.

To put it in perspective, you need to kill a giant abraham lincoln that goes out of control by sneaking into the war room to launch a nuclear missile after rigging an emergency election after you decapitated the old president, and sneak past the guard by making him a secretary and declaring it national secretary day.
This made me to want to play that asap. :)) And if it's perspective, I wonder what the details would be? :))
Just so you don't get mixed up. The one they're referring to is the first Season of the Telltale Sam & Max not the original LucasArts one.

OT: It's a pretty tough call, but i think im going to give it to Earthworm Jim. The ridiculousness of it all is inspiring. Got to love killing lawyers and snowmen in hell.

Saints Row 2 when my friend and I played it in Co-op mode with characters that looked just like us (i.e. overweight middle age teachers). The two of us running those missions looking like ourselves was hilarious.

I would have to most recently say Deadpool. A game hasn't made me laugh as hard as that in a long time. Beyond that, some of the funniest games I've played would have to be Portal and Portal 2 and the three Telltale Sam and Max seasons. There have probably been more though.

I hate that DICE ditched humor and carefree attitude after Bad Company 1, it was the only modern war game I've played that had some real character going for it.

Just Cause 2 is underappreciated in its hilarity, I think it's on par with Saints Row's humor, doing ridiculous situations and ridiculous solutions that nobody questions. Like all three generals on the different towers of a hotel, or the ending bossfight on a flying nuke, or getting attacked by ninjas.

Blood Dragon is the last funny game I played. The opening parodying typical video game tutorials was perfect

"Press A to move in a Z axis arch without touching the ground in between"

I'd also like to nominate Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker

That game did not give any fucks

I think New Vegas is pretty funny. Though maybe that's just because I've been playing it recently.

The Curse of Monkey Island. I played it as a kid with my mum, it was one of the first games I'd ever played (and one of the only ones she has) and it was hilarious. I was so worried it Guybrush "died" and the credits started to roll and it said I had earned 0 out of 8000 points...

I remember grinning my way through Portal.

Also, the ME3 Citadel DLC was basically one long parade of happiness and chuckles.

Deadpool for me if I would give a most recent example followed very closely by Blood Dragon.

I am not really a fan of adventure games so Curse of Monkey Island and others of it's ilk I can't say because I haven't played them.

I really got to get my hands on Deadpool now...

OT:
The humor in Portal 1+2, and Persona 3+4 is brilliant. The writers never cease to amaze me when they deliver the jokes and fun times in these games.

Oh and Dark Souls. Not the game's tone or story... the community made this game a riot:

the funniest game I've played in a while was probably Far Cry 3 blood dragon, as a fan of the movies they were poking fun at, I found the whole thing hilarious

Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, with the second episode probably being the best for funny dialogue, particularly when Strong Bad learns to speak the Homsar 'language' and writes 'Cave Girl Squad'.

Come on everybody now
Can't you hear the wind blow?
We don't like the King of Town
Makin' people's heads explode

<3 H*R. Also Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door.

Well, recently I'd say Just Cause 2. Not because of scripted humor, but because of those WTF moments that make you laugh your ass off (Every time I jump off a cliff in a heavily armored vehicle). Scripted wise? The Jak and Daxter series.
