Great Teacher Onizuka is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, anime or otherwise. However, watch it subbed, the dub doesn't do it justice IMO.

Honestly, subs aren't that bad, you won't even notice after a while.

I watched a few episodes of Desert Punk once. That was relatively funny.

Edit: Oh and I guess the boondocks counts. That show is so damn funny.

Desert Punk was really good. The dub was fantastic. I think they got the guy who did the dubs for Lupin the III to do the main character. (Lupin III is awesome, btw.)

Fairy Tail is a very funny anime, that has very good action as well. It's relatively new, consisting of 34 episodes as of today, and it airs every monday. It's by far one of the best animes out right now not to mention one of the funniest as well.

Martian Successor Nadesico (not the OVA - the anime is funny, the OVA is dark and angsty)

It's a movie, not an OVA.
And it's the sole reason they abandoned season 2. =(

Yeah, but it was the reason they canceled the second series, which was actually planned.

Wow... it has some of the same characters and that girl seems suspiciously like Excel abiet much younger.

Puni Puni Poemy was made immediately after Excel Saga, and features reworked versions of many main characters. I guess the director wanted to see just HOW much weird and offensive shit he could get away with.

In other words: Highly recommended!
