Christ no. Tourists are awful.
Not all of them obviously. The money's welcome, but along with the more benign gawpers who at worst mostly just get in the way, you'll inevitably get a load of self-absorbed twats. They're interested in nothing but their own gratification, they think the locals are a lesser species there to service them, pay no attention to local laws and customs, and often leave the place a dump and expect everyone to clean up after them.
The rise of influencers has only made tourism vastly worse, because now added to the usual knobs are a bunchttps://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oP3sqciZDSQh of ruthless self-publicists who also want to clog up the avenues getting the perfect shot/video, causing a scene, demanding attention, or at worst carrying out stupid stunts for views.
They banned tourists from one of the main streets in Kyoto because people kept manhandling the geishas so they could get selfies. Who the fuck in their right mind thinks it's okay to grab women in the street, and why aren't they all locked up for assault?
