The PS4 will have cutting edge anti-piracy measures, all games must be played at a designated Sony Playstation Store with a Sony representative looking over your shoulder. This means that the price of the PS4 is effectively $0 as you aren't allowed to have one.

Or maybe the PS2, because it was pretty good. But it won't be compatible with your old PS2 games, you'll have to buy them again because of reasons.

The PS4 will be released in Europe and Australia tomorrow and will cost £25. The rest of the world will have to wait until Christmas, and pay 5-10x the cost for no discernible reason.
10 times that of £25, count me in.

I hope Kaz Hirai is wearing his pink shirt (you know the one in that shade of really light pink he always seems to wear for big announcements).

That they've dropped out of the console race? (Wasn't one of these companies rumored to be doing so?)

Every game released on the PS4 will be text adventures only.

The PS4 will be the size of a mini van.

All of the controllers will be replaced with motion sensor controllers, exactly like the Wii.

A new PS Vita with *gasp* 32GB/64GB on board storage, that takes SD cards instead of proprietary ones, has > 10hrs battery life and costs < £150.

Someone may actually buy one then :)

The PS4 will be fully backwards-compatible with every single game ever released for the PS1, 2 and 3! Unfortunately, compatibility with PS4 games had to be sacrificed in order to accomplish this.

Oh, but don't worry - all games for the PS4 will ALSO be backwards-compatible, and may be played on your PS2.

Production of PS2 consoles will not resume.

But still, given the games on offer, probably not.

No, probably not :-( Still, one can dream. They might even have sold more than 1 or 2 units a day worldwide. You would've thought that with all the engineering genius it took to design and manufacture the thing they would've had one person smart enough to speak up and say "Ummm...you know no one will buy these right?". They must've gone out of their way to make something so technically advanced so wrong.

It's not unlike the Xperia Play android phone they did. They made an incredible device for a target market that doesn't exist, made it very inaccessible and charged far too much. And as you say, the small games library didn't help.

correction, the ps4 is NOT forward or backwards compatible with anything
it will be software emulated at some point in the future

it is not a release feature.

actually when you think about it, it's more of a sad joke than your comment :S
