Future Adam Sandler movies will go straight to Netflix. This action is being taken to try and contain the damage and minimize those exposed to them. Many have publicly expressed their thanks to Netflix for "its noble sacrifice, taking on this burden."

So, no way for me to see them? Thank god for IP filtering...

That is a bullet I am glad we dodged...

This reminds me of the South Park episode with AWESOME-O when studio execs thought Cartman's obviously fake robot self was in fact a real robot. It was funny because he came up with over 1000 movie ideas, all starring Adam Sandler doing what Adam Sandler has done with his career. Love a lot of his movies, but the man needs to start being more picky of what roles/projects he picks.

Wow, you guys are a bitter bunch. I personally consider Sandler a very good actor, though he only works for me when he's got the right material. Has anybody here seen Reign Over Me or Punch-Drunk Love? They are a far cry from what most people think of when they hear of "an Adam Sandler movie", and are far from the usual family comedy crap that he unfortunately often chooses to star in.

For this reason I am optimistic about Pixels.

Straight to Netflix, and on Netflix straight to my "not interested" bin.
How is this guy still allowed to make movies? They are not funny, he is not funny.
It's just beyond me.

I've never been able to understand American comedy.
People I actively avoid are: Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy and Woody Allen.
I cannot stand any of them.
Yeah I pretty much don't like anyone that got famous on SNL. I've never found SNL to be funny, and the careers of just about everyone from that show is a typecasted run of movies milking the one thing that got them famous on SNL.

The Deuce Bigalo guy, Sandler, David Spade, Will Farrell, you name them, I pretty much don't like them. If you've seen one movie of theirs, you've seen all of them. So yeah, couldn't give a damn about this turn of events for Sandler, as I'm confident the movies will flop online just like they would in theaters.

Any of these showing up in my "because you watched" suggestions will amount to final proof of the absolute failure of Netflix's algorithms.

I've gotten the impression, one way and another, that a) Sandler isn't a complete idiot, and b) when pressed, he may actually be capable of acting.

That the vast majority of his work shows no interest in displaying either of these things makes them not merely annoying, but also disappointing.

Haha...

Stupid, pathetic Adam Sandler.

You are forever doomed to make shitty movies, and now they can't even merit themselves on an exclusively theatrical release.

The only reason I'm ok with Adam Sandler still being allowed to make movies is because oh man does it make for some great Half in the Bag film reviews. That Jack and Jill review of Mike n Jays was just brilliant.

Also if you don't know what I'm talking about OH MY GOD GO GO GO NOW: http://redlettermedia.com/

So you're telling me that the next four Adam sandler movies are going to be exclusive to a service I don't use which means I never have to see them or even see advertisements for it?

Hell yeah!

It's not that he's a bad actor - Punch Drunk Love was good stuff and he was pretty fantastic in it, but that wasn't a Happy Madison production, and Sandler wasn't a writer for it. He was just cast as the lead. And yeah, with the right material it's pretty good. When he and his production company are heavily involved in decision making and the creative process though, Jack and Jill happens. Movies that are unmistakably Adam Sandler's are just excuses for him and his friends to putz around on camera, hang out after shooting, and make a mint for it off the producers, distributers, and the big-gulp swilling masses. Though, as capable as he is at manipulating so many people, I can't really fault him for it. Like, which is worse - the prince from Country X asking for help in providing investment capital for a cause he promises will make the giver rich later in a virus-laden mass email -- or the idiot that actually opens it and gives him money?

But yeah, some people are getting really sick of him.

Pixels at least won't have him as a principle writer. It doesn't feel like an Adam Sandler movie - so it's got that going for it. I'm cautiously optomistic for that one.

So the con-artist manages to swindle another group for money?
Oh wait that was a bit slanderous...I mean thieving con-artist. Anyone who has any offense to this statement, look up some info on Jack and Jill. Or just look up Red Letter Medias coverage of the 'movie'
And how would he be a "con-artist"...exactly? I mean, I hate Sandlers movies, they're the absolute scrapings of several miles /underneath/ the barrel, but he's hardly a swindler.

I think you place too much credit on Sandler for his success. And not y'know the people with standards low enough to go see and enjoy his movies. Implying the trailers for Sandler movies are some sort of sneaky con is an insult to sneaky cons. Mainly because they're not.

I guess it makes Netflix the movie version of Tal Rasha from Diablo, heroicly wrestling with Adam Sandler for all eternity, as to not unleash the evil within upon the rest of the world.

I fail to see what this has to do with Adam Sandler.
Well anyway, at least I wont be seeing any news stories about Adam Sandler's movie beating much better movies in the box office. Last one I saw was when Grown Ups 2 beat out Pacific Rim. Makes no damn sense.

Look up Red Letter Media's review of Jack and Jill, they can be more specific than I can. They were using Titanics cost to compare to it ,so there's something iffy going on there.

Sandler has had a feeeeewwwwww good films in the past 15 years, but, yeah, most of his recent work should be put in Netflix's equivalent of a bargain bin. (How would a Neflix bargain bin work? Free to stream even for non-members? Possibly with no ads, just to entice them into paying $10 a month for much better choices?)

What I can't believe is Escapist didn't cover the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2 in its own article. Did I miss that in my last couple hectic days? That right there is the possible start of a media war that we've been waiting to see since home video first came out, and has gotten warmer thanks to DVD/streaming and internet reviews and social media, with major theater companies lashing out at any potential threat (and possibly cutting themselves in the process). It's also more interesting than news about an aging SNL vet who ran out of creative steam within a few years of leaving the show.
