As i was reading the news story on B-BC2 mocking MW20 With the F.A.G.S Advert -

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99198-Battlefield-PSA-Mocks-Modern-Warfare-2-F-A-G-S-Gaffe

After watching the original Youtube vid i then linked to another B-BC2 Advert and i realized that i REALLY felt like playing it after.

I suppose what i'm getting at is that The ads got to me as a consumer. Which is odd because usually i don't pay any attention to them. MW2's ads didn't really faze me but B-BC2 did.

Do gaming trailers make you want to buy/play games and if so. Is it all, or just a few?

Pretty rarely, after all this time, I've become a bit jaded to their marketing unless show me some gameplay to prove a claim.

I have never been so swayed by a game trailer that I rushed out and bought a copy for that reason alone. In fact, rarely do I watch game trailers until after I own and have played the game. For many reasons, despite the fact that I am the target audience for gaming, game trailers do not reach me as well as movie trailers do.

Marketing and advertising within the industry sucks the big one if a person like me doesn't see the trailer until after he's finished playing the damn game.

I'm pretty ashamed even B-BC2's ads got to me, but i did get the game before watching the ads as AvsJoe does. It just amazes me the ads were good enough for me to want to play the game because of them.

Eh, I'm a cheap bastard who normally doesn't buy games untill they come down from their usual $60 price tag so I don't pay too much attention to new releases. The good thing about this strategy is that price is inversely proportional to hype and when there isn't any hype for the game you can get much more accurate information on wether or not its really worth it. The bad news is of course that you don't get to play new games right away, but its a small price to pay to know that nothing that I buy will be shit.

The MW2 ads got to me for the music, though I already owned the game by the time I saw it for the first time, but it still made me want to shoot bitches and look bad ass whilst doing so.

Not really, I'm too paranoid about being lied to, so I watch adds like a hawk for what they are trying to influence me with. Although a couple of adds for products have got me to get the music playing in the background instead of the product itself. The Mamas and Papas got some money because a throat lozenge add decided to use california dreaming as the backing music.

Rarely. Too many ads rely on FMV and footage that isn't in game (these days our ads have to state whether you are looking at actual footage, something that isn't actually in the game or something that is representative of the game).

If you want me to be excited about a game then give me a demo. Ads don't work.
