The protagonists wandered up the road for a short time, and came close to the Mall. It was only about fifty metres away now. They were able to make out what it was.
They could see a huge entrance. It was about ten meters high, and five meters wide. The kind of entrance to a mall that takes itself way too serious. On one side of the mall, the entire building were still standing. Windows and such were not nearly intact, but the walls and others were showing almost no sign of damage. The other side, however were not as intact. This side were crumbled to rubbish. There were huge supportin poles, not supporting aything but air. There were barely any walls standing.
On the far side of the mall, there is a highway. The part facing the mall, has collapsed down to the ground. The next part is still standing, thus making the highway approachable up to the top. The highway kept on, heading to the left.
The signs and lights on the mall were not working, not one of them. And since it was becoming very dark, there was very difficult to see very much. The only details they were able to make out, was the ones surrounding them at their current position.
They could see a two-way street. With two lines going each way. There were buildings on each side of the road. Even though there was sidewalks between the buildings and the road, they were still pushed very close to the road. So in order to be as safe as possible, the protagonists were walking in the middle of the road. The road itself were in very bad condition, having huge holes everywhere. It wasn't dark enough for people to trip due to the holes, but as it grew darker, that might become a problem if they continue walking on the road
The buidings were rather average looking. They were still standing, but most of the doors and winows were battered. It didn't seem to be any power inside the houses either, hence making it all seem like a ghost-town. The buildings themselves were very bristle-looking, and were at average about three stories tall.
As the protagonists were walking up the road, they could hear some noises inside a house with a unbattered door. Deciding they were not up to being assulted from behind, they decided to face the noises head on. Not wanting to expose the rest of the group for danger, Samus told the protagonists to wait up while she moved towards the noises. When she was about five meters from the door, the door blew open. Out came headcrab-zombies tumbling out, while screaming their horrenderous screams. As a pure reflect Samus pulled out a missile launcher, and shot inside the door. The zombies were blown to pieces in a matter of seconds.
But it was not without consequenses. The blast from the missile, demolitioned the entire building. Not without sound either. A the outcome was inevitable
They heard a zombie-horde scream, and knew the same zombies they were fighting last time were back again. Now with help from the head-crab zombies. As the protagonists stood their ground, eyeing the two zombie-kinds rushing towards them, they noticed something special. The two kinds were also fighting among themselves. Whenever there was a headcrab-zombie walking towards the protagonists, and a runner-zombie would run in front of him, the headcrab-zombie would punch the runner in the back. Thus throwing it several metres. And every time that happened, the surrounding runners would attack the responsible headcrab-zombie. Although this happened rather frequently, there were still enough of both kinds that were set on the protagonists. And they came with alarming speed.
The protagonists stood in a circle, getting ready to fight the horde off. The horde were at their feet when Zelos unexpectedly got jumped by a headcrap, now trying to eat his way through Zelos head. At the same time Johnny were pounced by a Hunter. Traumatized by the last close-encounter with zombies, he were screaming at all his lungs worth, while kicking. The protagonists were by all means caught off-guard by this series of events
