The only game I managed to make someone look EXACTLY like me was Fallout 3. I mean seriously. Soon as I could find glasses, hey presto, it was scary as hell.
I failed with Mass Effect, he ended up looking like a fat-faced version of the Japanese guy from Linkin Park.

I once found this program that can scan your pictures and create a 3d model of your face with the exact same settings Bethesda used with oblivion. I tried copying it but without certain personal details (skin type, molds, etc), it doesnt really seem to add up.

When given the oppurtunity, ill always make a version of myself though. Last time I did that was in the godfather. I spent 2 hours getting my characters eyes and nose to look just like mine, and it worked out really well.

Whenever i try to make a char in my image i end up looking about 20 ( i'm a lot less) or like that dude from that horrible (in my opinion) hairspray thing! i think it would be good if you could some how get a profile and mug shot picture of yourself into the game and have a ruff model of yourself. 'cos i'm so sick of roaming the capital waste land looking like Zach Efron.

I have a single character who I play as in every game with a character creator. Basically you could consider him an Original Character. Red-Haired guy with a Soul Patch and a Red Shirt with a Black X across it. I named him Kumori. I draw this character all the time, so eventually I just starting making him my character in gaming.

Not really. I usually just create characters from other mediums to live out a weird crossover adventure.

For example, in Saints Row 2, I tried to create Cheech Marin (yeah, from "Cheech and Chong").

I just make them what I'd like to be. Usually that means that they look like me but with a goatee. Regardless, karmically they always do the things I would. If I do something that I wouldn't do, I feel like a complete asshole and can't go on with that character. That can be quite troublesome when after 12 hours you accidentally shoot some so they become agressive and you have to kill them.

Usually the whole "designers don't put dreadlocks as an available hairstyle" thing kinda screws me over.

I try, but most games cannot create a 14 year old male with medium-long crazy hair.

When I make more than one character for a game, I happily name them after a character in one of my stories or myself.

Then I shape them randomly and that image-name-combo sticks with me forever. Well, until I play DeadSpace when needing a dude in engineer-power-armor and Halo or Fallout 3 if I need a guy in combat power armor, lol.

sometimes yes, sometimes no. Make a skinny dude with long brown hair? K. Make a telophone pole with melon sized knockers? K. Make a guy who looks like he could bench press a truck? K.

Normally I don't care much

Rarley ever I always use the same name however sort of a trademark gamer tag over the years, when I make a character I either jsut go with what looks cool or if the customisation system is robust or moddable enough I'll pull out one of my character designs and work as close to that as possible.

Yes.

I always create my manager in the older Championship Managers/Football Managers to be like me. Granted, it's just a matter of typing in your own name.

But still.
