Self-explanatory. Personally, I'd have to say Navi from Ocarina of Time. Yes, hearing her say "Hey! Listen!" every so often could get really irritating, but she gave you info on what you were fighting, which was helpful and made me feel like I understood the game's world better. It just felt like her heart was in the right place.
So, how 'bout you guys?
Navi is helpful. The only time "Hey, listen" is annoying is when you put it in a youtube video and loop it for 10 minutes straight, and the same would be true for any two words said by anyone.

I don't hate Jack from Mass Effect 2. I don't love her. I don't even like her. She's a plausible character to me, especially since I've known more than a few people with a similar personality. So I don't hate her as a character.

Ashley Williams from Mass Effect. Seriously the degree of hate she gets is ridiculous, she doesn't deserve nearly as much of the criticism she recieves. To me at least, she's my favorite female character in Mass Effect and stands as a good example of an actual flawed character in video games, because she's got the good aspects and the bad aspects that make up a whole person.

Her flaws aren't even as extreme as people say they are, in fact it's safe to assume that the version of Ashley Williams that everyone keeps hating on within poorly spelt youtube comments is nothing like the actual character herself.

Google 'Ron the Death Eater' because Ashley is a textbook example of that phenomenon in motion.

Cloud from FF7. I'd be a whiny little *****, too, if...

A) My boss burned my house down
B) My mother was in said house.
C) A firing squad killed my best friend.
D) I suffered from radiation poisoning.
E) My ex-boss stabbed my girlfriend in the back.

It's called post-traumatic stress disorder, people. It happens in real life.

I'd agree with this. Yes, she has character flaws. Yes, one of those is a mistrust of aliens. But the hate she gets is generally of the form of "she's a racist" which doesn't hold water. She does not believe humanity is greater than the other species (which is, for the record, what it would take for her to be racist), but rather distrusts them based on regular and recurring personal experience that make this a perfectly rational behavior. Humanities first contact resulted in a bloody battle and a black mark on her family that haunts her career in spite of the fact she had no part in it. She was assigned to guard a garden world only to have it brutally attacked by another group of aliens. Yet another group of aliens refuse to accept anything save damning proof that one of them might have done something wrong and even when such proof is delivered the send a lone ship to comb the galaxy. This group of aliens is hell bent on ignoring ever increasing mountains of evidence of a great peril that affects all of the galaxy.

Beyond that, as a romance option she really couldn't be beat in the first game as the other option was basically a teenage mono-gendered neuro-energy parasite. And, truth be told, were I going to march Shepard into the mouth of hell itself, I think I'd rather take the woman who has stood steadfast against the horrors of the galaxy rather than various flavors of shy teenage jailbait. And, at the very least, her biology isn't inherently toxic, which is a plus.

Navi, for one. She actually never got on my nerves, and I even teared up a bit at the end
where she has to leave you. It gets especially sad when you realize in the opening of Majora's Mask, Link is looking for her again.
Tatl and Celia are no Navi, that's for sure.

Also, I think Tingle is pretty amusing. He reminds me a lot of the Katamari characters. Probably some Japanese cultural thing that I don't understand.

Garrosh from WoW. A lot of people hate him (especially because he replaced Thrall, one of the biggest badasses in the game) but you have to admit, he has some of the best quotes in the game. Also, I'm not a fan of Sylvanas, so any character who has the balls to put her in her place and tell her what I'm sure everyone else is thinking is A-OK in my book. Also, there's a certain quest chain "To Be Horde" in Stonetalon Mountains that gains him 5 billion respect points.
In short,
YOU. ARE. DISMISSED. -throws Krom'gar off cliff-

Seems generally a lot of people hate Miranda from Mass Effect 2. Personally I really liked her and despised Tali.

I genuinely liked Cloud from FF7
he may have a stupid "spikey ass" head
and he may whine occassionally and do stupid shit because he's so easily possessed
but you can't deny he's kickass in the battlefield

plus i like Baird
not just a bit
but MORE than Cole

I liked Navi. I was never really bothered by "Hey Listen", I liked her design, and I liked her telling me stuff.

Also Ashley Graham from RE4. She never got to my nerves, the part you play as her was actually scary the first time you go through it, I actually liked the parts where you had to protect her by sniping the enemies while she was turning a crank or something, she sure handled being kidnapped by an evil cult a lot better I would have, and I could always make her hide in a trashcan or she would get kidnapped or left behind when I had to fight some more difficult parts.

I also didn't have such a big problem with Sheva in RE5. The first time I played the game I didn't have really issues with her AI, and now I just play as her and let Chris be piloted by the AI or someone else.

I agree shes not racist

as for me two bitchy charachters, Morrigan from dragon age and Miranda from ME2

Mirranda, Im not sure why I like her, mabye the fact that she has an assue accent (Australian accent in a sci fi game????!!!!) yeah she can be a cold ***** but thats her charachter, shes a good person deep down

Morrigan, Her quirrks are understandable, shes been raised by her evil/ phsycopathic Witch of a mother and hasnt had contact with the outside world, sure she DISAPROVES every nice action I took but I found her to be hilarious and I somtimes did see her points, also her and alistair are pricless together

The DC brotherhood from Fallout 3, everyone seems to dislike them for being "do-gooders"

But As shown in Veronics quest from NV the brotherhoods ways are going to be the death of them, they arnt the head honchos anymore and people will simply destroy them if they act like jerks and act like the world around them isnt changing, perhaps the DC chapters new direction was the way to go

also was everyone forgetting about the outcasts? they are there to show that the DC chapters new direction caused such massive outrage

The BoS were never "head honchos". They were always jerks who told outsiders to piss off and mainly kept technology they found to themselves. Also the BoS in Fallout 3 are way too large. As Veronica states in NV the BoS focus on procreation to survive and do not actively recruit members.

I remember, in AC2,
the first time I got to run around climbing stuff as Desmund Miles, and thinking "Ah man, this is cool for reasons I don't even understand!" And then, at the end, when you get to kill all those Estergo thugs? gold. Don't even get me started on Brotherhood.
Yes, I like Desmond. Don't get me wrong, his ancient history counterparts are awesome, but something about Desmond that I really... get. He is basically an ordinary-ish guy who, suddenly, is turned into awesome by a series of events completely outside of his control, and yet for the most part, he is able to keep a cool head about everything, even when crazy sh*t starts happening right there in the real world.

I decided to really explore what I liked about him, and I realized that it is this: He basically gets to live out the ultimate geeky fantasy, not only through the animus, but through
the bleeding effect. Imagine if you were playing the ultimate video game when suddenly you actually had all the abilities of your character.

So you might not be as cool as your bad-ass east-Indian killing machine ancestor, or as suave as your Care-free teenager turned hardened Assassin Italian ancestor, but who cares? You get to be awesome right frickin' now, and that is enough for me.

I wanted to hate Miranda, but I just couldn't.
I've also seen that a lot of people hate Carth Onasi. Personally, he and Bastilla were the only ones that I cared about in KOTOR1

yes, But I think I vaugley remember they Did recruit members in the DC chapter, makes sense with the beatings they were constantly getting by super mutants (I think anyway)

I vaugley remember a quote by veronica "Back then all you needed was power armour and plasma rifles to get your way, but not now, people are organised..." ect meaning they are no longer such a major force and will be wiped out if they dont stop preteding the rest of civilised wasteland dosnt exist

well that's the problem, the BoS in Fallout 3 were so different tot he ones in F1 and 2 and a lot of people didn't like the radical change. Bethesda could've just made a new faction, instead they got a faction from the west coast, made them for some reason decide to travel all the way across America and settle down in Washington DC knowing that they would lose contact with the west coast Brotherhood and not be able to receive any help or supplies and take a random chance at finding a suitable base of operations. The they find the problem which is the Super Mutants and discard basically all previous principles and rules to fight the mutants. It's almost a completely different faction.

This would all be fine if Bethesda hadn't just reused a faction from the old games and just made their own.

yeah That dose makes sense, I said before though at least they included the outcasts, just at least to show that not all the brotherhood were happy with the change in mission and that they hadnt changed what the brotherhood truly were, people tend to overlook that I feel, but yes I agree with what you said
