Well, they can die permanently, but not exactly by your own hand. Your own actions, but you can't actually pull the trigger.

Inquisitor Mordecai Toth in Dawn of War. He was one stuck up sod when you first met him, but to be fair he does open his eyes to Gabriel's point of view and gives him that kickass hammer of his.
