Paradox Interactive. They make games like Europa Universalis 3, then keep it going for years with substantial additions that are worth their price and have clearly been worked very hard on. Also, unless they added some in Victoria 2 or Crusader Kings 2, they're 100% DRM free. They're wonderfully anachronistic in the modern world of games.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned Paradox. I have to say they really are my fav right now and not just because they make historical games incredibly relevant to my interests. They have a great relationship with their fanbase. Case in point: I'm pretty sure the "Divine Wind" expansion for EU3 was made after fans created a poll about what the company should be working on.

What you're saying is something that have always worried me a lot, and it's a big reason I get frustrated whenever I hear and see all the praise that Steam and Valve get. I'm still positively inclined towards them, but it almost pisses me off that people won't acknowledge some pretty freaking major issues. And when Gabe Newell talks bullshit about providing good service and shit, nobody questions him about it. They just take his word for it and think "well hey, Steam is immensely successful, I guess that proves it then. Case closed!".
That is pretty much my own conclusion. I was the first on my gaming circle to sing the praises of Steam while everyone else was reluctant, and ironicaly, I was the one that got screwed.

It seems to me that they thought, as the other user said, that me being "one in a million" was Steam's own reaction. "Hey, people love us, this guy can't make any problems for us, screw him!"
Okay Valve are nolonger the good guys then. This is the kind of crap we hate EA's Origin for. Valve don't get a free pass.

Have you tried brewing up a shitstorm yet? Tell your whole story to Rock Paper Shotgun? They did similar pieces on Origin bans, so that may be a good entry.
Who knows, maybe with enough angry publiciy someone at Valve may even notice and give you your account back so you can play the games you bought atleast.

I had the most pleasant customer service experience I have ever had when I needed to regain access to my gog.com account. Sent them an email on Sunday, first thing Monday I got an email from a service rep who was very helpful and got me my access back within minutes.

Piranha Games.

They're developing the new Mechwarrior game (Mechwarrior Online) and are doing a fantastic job of interacting with the community. They hold regular polls on their Facebook page and forums asking what fans want and some developers post in the forums semi-regularly, so we should see a final product that looks amazing thanks to this interaction.

Here is the Mechwarrior Online website. Have a look, it's going to be Free to Play and do check out the forums.

I did try. I even contacted some of the game developers themselves at Relic and Creative Assembly to see if they could help, but no luck.

It was for the best, really. I bought my PS3 to soothe my gaming craves then, and haven't looked back since. I only use the PC to play my older, non-Steam or other online crap games.

I absolutely adore Atlus. They take a chance and publish/localize games that bigger companies won't touch. They have such a wide variety of genres.

Their forums have a section of "What game should we publish?" and many of the fan suggestions get looked into by Atlus, with them publishing and localizing the ones that get the biggest amount of interest. How could anyone not like a company that lets their customers choose their next project?
