Game Damage: Where are they now?

So, in the distant past of December 2008 Yahtzee (creator of ZP) and Yug and Matt (podcast team of the Australian Gamer) were planning a TV series about games, called Game Damage. They made a pilot, put it on the web, and it was followed later by a "trailer" of the future show. They said they were practicing a lot, the content was better and... The last we heard of it was more than a year ago.

It's pretty evident that the series will probably never happen. More than a year of deadly silence is a pretty damning clue. But... Why?

Here's the question Escapist: why do you think Game Damage didn't work? Needed more Yahtzee? Less Yahtzee? We already have too many games-related TV shows? They discovered more interesting stuff to do? Post your opinions.

On a personal note, I'm sad it didn't happen. The Podcasts I've heard were hilarious, I like Yahtzee, especially when he acts more like a human being and less like the sarcasm-dripped dick joke dispenser that is his ZP persona. Nothing against sarcasm or dick jokes, I love ZP, but I find his stuff in extra punctuation and on his site sounds more interesting and reasonable. The point is: These guys were funny, the pilot looked promising and they put a lot of effort into it. It's always a shame when it looks like something good is coming out, and
then it just dies, unknown and unnoticed, before having even a chance at recognition.

EDIT: Link to the Game Damage website, in case anyone's wondering: http://www.gamedamage.net/

I think Game Damage didn't work simply because it wasn't very good. It wasn't particularly entertaining or informative, and everyone's delivery was, erm, lacking. I'll give props for effort, but it wasn't the sort of thing that left me anticipating more.

They have the Mana Bar, and as Yahtzee said "...A small licensed venue in the city's busiest entertainment district."

That takes up a lot of time. Not just because it is a full time job to manage an establishment but it is also very popular.

Too true and last I heard Yug was or has moved away from Brisbane.

We actually took it to MIPCOM in Cannes, France to pitch it to international distributors and networks. Unfortunately, the idea of any TV show to do with video games was frowned upon.

And yes, the Mana Bar takes up almost all of my time these days, and Yahtzee still does ZP and is currently writing his 2nd novel. Matt still looks after AustralianGamer.com and is a successful programmer in his own right.

That said, we are still talking to a few people and ideas pop up every now and again where we could revive it or push it forward through a different medium. I actually just spoke to our producer only last week about some potential opportunities.

I think the format was there, and the three of us actually bounce off each other very successfully in real life - translating that spontaneousness to a series of 'takes' though was a learning experience. Nothing in GameDamage was scripted.

We'll see, but I was particularly proud of the 2nd pilot we shot. Considering putting up the full episode just to see what people would have thought.

Um what? As far as I am aware, on Free to Air in Australia, there is 1 real Gaming show (Good Game) which is nowhere near as good as it used to be. There is Junglist's new Save Point but that runs for 8 minutes on One HD and is still in it's infancy. We NEED more gaming shows, shown in a more "prime-timey" slot because there is a fairly large market for it, it's just that most networks don't see gamers as a large enough demographic.
