Yeah, that was back when it wasn't as funny and it had no backstory to speak of.
I don't need to remember, because it still isn't funny! This is humour for the mentally retarded (No offence to the mentally retarded, I'm sure you hate it too). All that's changed is that now it has fuck all to do with the original premise of the show.

I can see this next season of Game Dogs will be better then the first, though I quite liked the first season.

I never really understood why people get so down on this show, possibly because everyone got the false impression of it being a caterer to the furry crowd (I still don't know what the hell a furry is, I should go ask the Swat Cats) when it's theme seems to be made mainly for spoof purposes, being able to disguise people like Richard Garriott so they can bust his balls without potentially ruining Escapist's potential future business with him. Also, possibly because it's taken so long to find its pace and audience, combined with it getting allot of hype. In fact, I think all the pre-release hype is why all this negative backlash started.

I'm still quiet enjoying this show, though it's never going to be a replacement for Apocalypse Lane in my eyes, not that AL was a perfect show. And this is the thing, all the serial/ongoing cartoons on the Escapist have to go through a growing period before it knuckles down to find it's groove, hell, the same could be said for most mainstream cartoons.

See, a cartoon only starts to get especially funny once it's established its playing ground, so to speak. Once all the characters are well established and inside jokes are put into place, the show can then start to achieve a greater sense of humor.

Homestarrunner is a good example. You ever seen the first cartoons they made? They're not that good or funny, but give them a year or so to build material and find what works and what doesn't, they turn those same bad episodes into their own inside jokes, as well as have an extremely broad playground with well established personalities to work with, making it one of the biggest Internet success stories.

Anyhow, the show's getting allot better, good job guys, I look forward to more. Try to ignore all the nay sayers.

EDIT: I would agree that the build up is taking far too long, probably wanna hurry up to the good stuff while people are still interested. That season premier with the Russian and the game show was pretty damn funny though, more of that would help this show allot.

I would also agree this show has had allot of hits and misses so far, but I see potential for improving the hit ratio.
We hate the show because we like intelligent humour, or at least humour that wasn't designed for 10 year olds and consists of more than the occasional fart joke.

I always woundered how someone so 'hyper' could of made it so big now we know lol.
I don't think you understand what 'hyper' means.

hy-per
?adjective
1.
overexcited; overstimulated; keyed up.
2.
seriously or obsessively concerned; fanatical; rabid: She's hyper about noise pollution.
3.hyperactive.

?noun
4.
a person who is hyper.
If anything he would be high.

O.T. This is getting worse and worse. I've been trying to watch every escapist show, including this one. But that's it, I give up. This is too terrible to comprehend.
Actually i would still say its hyper.

And tbh this is one of the more funnyer active escapist shows.

I quite agree, I've always liked this show. Yeah, I hear the rest of you, it's not as funny as most of the stuff on the escapist, but it's been much better in that aspect since the first season, and it's still going to get more funny if current trends continue. It's been doing what most shows here do, establishing itself, but it's just taken longer than we're used to.

And because you asked, willgreg123, here's what a furry is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Furry_fandom. Or put simply, you know the way a lot of people out there are obsessed with sci-fi? Well, that's what a furry is, except instead of sci-fi it's anthropomorphic cartoons. And this is something I don't get. Just because they're anthropomorphic dogs doesn't mean we furries automatically like them more. That's like saying most of us here at the escapist liked Prince of Persia more than, I don't know, Shutter Island and Scott Pilgrim and other awesome movies this year, just because PoP was based on a game. It's a stupid idea, and it's obviously incorrect. Granted, my favorite characters in Apocalypse Lane were some of the anthro ones (Cuddles and Gulliver specifically) but that's for the same reason they were everyone else's favorite characters: because they were fucking awesome. If they were human I would have liked them just as much, it has nothing to do with them being anthro.

Exactly. For a mainstream example, take South Park. It's awesome now, but the first few episodes were shit. It had to establish itself first, and again, just because Game Dogs is taking a hell of a long time to do so doesn't mean it won't get a whole lot better.

Again, agreed. But it's improving, and I think we'll have something really fucking good, by the end of all this. Just try not to take too long.

That explains so much, and yet so little.

Look, the first half of the first season was terrible. Then, the second half came along and subsequently almost completely made up for the first. I genuinely really enjoyed the second half of season one, and I was really excited for season two because of that second half.

Then season two comes, we see less of the main three, we get development on the two darkhorses in the ensemble and we get some decent material for about half of the episodes. Then the second half either drags, falls completely flat, forcibly references something completely irrelevant and tries to pass it off as funny or all three of those at the same time.

I criticize this show so harshly now because I am seeing the improvements season 1.5 made, plus some new improvements, but there's just some really idiotic stuff in the new episodes that doesn't need to be there and seems extremely forced and out-of-place, and it drags the entire thing down to near the depths from whence the show arose.

Hell, looking back on the second half of season one, the main three were actually relatable and funny by the end, which makes me re-consider their first appearance in season two. Now, I think it's the original bad feelings I got from them coming back combined with that godawful sequence of material from Gary afterwards. After thinking about it, I don't think I'd really mind seeing them again because they were really on the up and up by the end of season one.

I'm just wanting more of the second half of season one. From what I've re-watched and can remember recently, season 1.5 did not need to rely on those bad reference jokes, or at least nearly as much, to be funny. If references were made, they were legitimately funny or were at least relevant!

And, like I said before, I'm hoping the Russkie comes in and blows me over, because I really, really want to like him. And like I said before (again), it'd be hilarious for him to channel Heavy in some form or another (very relevant, he's Russian and it's potential knows no bounds).

I want to enjoy this show again. It's actually good other than the godawful material that takes up half of the episodes.

Personally, I thought both halves of season 1 were about the same: pretty good but not quite as funny as I expect from the escapist. I think now, they're still trying to figure out how best to do the jokes. I expect they'll keep trying different things, and they'll stick with the stuff that gets the best reaction from us. I agree that these new episodes aren't great, but I'm excited because I can tell that they're making an effort. Soon it'll all even out into what it'll continue to be, and until then, my advice is just give it time. If the first half of season 1 was so bad, that means it took them about six or seven episodes to get it working properly. We're only two episodes into season 2. I vote patience.

Mr. Yee: frighteningly badass. Instead of his normal just-frightening.

...and then we see why the two are related.

...Apparently, Mr. Yee is out here to either find Metal Gear or to become Batman.
...and I'm betting Bob's scar is from open heart surgery.
