Heavy Rain is about to come out. If she likes murder mysteries, that seems to be something to check out. A little on the violent side, but we all know they designed it to be like a movie or a glorified "choose your own adventure" thing, so it could work.

The most important thing you must take in to account is her skill level when it comes to handling the specific control set.
Even if you have a AAA title that appeals to a wide audience, there is a good chance that unfamiliar controls will ruin the experience.
FF13 seems a ridiculous title to push if she has not played many games in the past, let alone JRPGs.

Recommendation: A platformer.
...such as Psyconauts.

Viva Pinata. Its immposible to resist the pinata animals. the second game has much more stuff to do but is alot harder to get certain items and pinatas.

And she may be sad if proffesor pester breaks her pinatas.

Folklore is a wonderful choice. The aesthetics in that game are simply wonderful.

Now, are we limited to PS3 choices?

My suggestion is to go online and find some ROM hacks of some of the older games and get her into those first, then work her into the newer games.

Braid....Castle Crashers and Portal come to my mind...nice and safe, no blood, and you get blinded by flashy colors.

If my GF was going to get into gaming, I would get her Sims 3 and Spore. I would also buy a Wii. With luck, I would one day work her up to stuff like L4D2 or TF2.

You could show her a couple of racing games but thats not really anything close to a garentee for her to like them.

Wow all i have is shooters and racers, Flower would be good though.

THats really all i have...wow this is sad.

I can agree with this idea, I'm a big fan, it looks good, it's not to hard in the combat department, there's a ridiculous amount of optional sidequesting and ti's a pretty long game to finish. Also it's not a casual game. Only resort to casual games if you're prepared to give up her soul.

Too bad it's not on PS3. PS3 has not a lot of games with features I just named, but possibly FF13 when it's released, and maybe, if she likes humorous gameplay: Ratcher & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. Hard to pick games for someone you don't know...
