Turn based strategy.
Half of my victories in my recent games of FFT and Valkyiria Chronicles 2 are down to pure luck, but I fuckin' love a good one.

fighting games for sure

i suck at them and can never stick to 1 character enough to learn their moves well enough. pretty much the only reason I buy them is to check out the characters, and cuz some of them are just rly flashy and cool looking.

[sub][sub]What about my not very good at it?[/sub][/sub]

Well, I do have a love for Starcraft-esque RTSes, but, then again, that's more revolving around practise - it's very difficult to just pick up an RTS and be naturally "good" at them.

I'm horrible when playing RTS games against people who play RTS games. And I am the worst fighting game/puzzle game player ever. But I'll play most things with awesome friends. Winning isn't everything :D

Fighting games. I can do fine playing the CPU on Normal, and I enjoy it in short bursts. But as soon as I hop online, I just get hit with infinite combos and never ever ever ever get a chance to dodge/block/parry. And I'm not that much better with my opponent actually next to me, though at least I can actually beat them from time to time.

I suck a good bit at First-Person Shooters. Regardless, I still somehow manage to have fun despite all the die-hard 14 year old players that enjoy calling me any variety of racial or sexual slurs. I suppose when you don't care about being competitive (me, obviously), it's not much of an annoyance.

RTS and Fighting games.

I assure that any seasoned player in any of these genres would thoroughly kill me.

Regardless, I have a guilty pleasure in them.

Racing games are pretty boring for me. I never got the need for speed IRL and I don't care much about cars or any of that fancy car talk. Naturally I wouldn't be impressed by racing games. I like immersion, storyline, and innovative or interesting gameplay. Racing games tend to be weak on the storyline issue, I can't get immersed into them, and press X to accelerate got old decades ago.
Kinda missed the point of the thread, talking about genres we ENJOY but suck at ourselves, not just complaining.

OT: As for me, I love fighting games but I am truly god awful at them, It took me an age to struggle through the Soul Calibur games and I never ever play multi. I am pretty decent at Super Smash Bros. but that style of fighter suits me a lot better than the 2D one on one fights.

Music/rhythm games. I am such a sucker for them and I fail soooo hard... Especially Beatmania. Got to play it once at some anime convention last year, I sucked ass, but it was some mighty fine ass. Damn near convinced me to buy a controller, imports, and a modchip.

Fighting games for me, too.

Sorry, I don't have godlike dexterity, eyes like a f***ing falcon to pick out individual frames, or a good couple months of my time to train with one character for six hours a day. So you'll never see me play online because I'll never get to press a button. But playing against the CPU or friends on local multiplayer is still good fun!

I am no where close to professional level playing of Fighting games. But I do enjoy them and play them often. I'm pretty darn good with Rachel Alucard. Even after several months of playing Blazblue she's one of the few characters I can still remember every move of(Blazblue in general though has a limited selection of moves).

I'd say the fact I enjoy them is well enough to play plenty of the time. Games are about having fun, not competition and challenge. And I do a lot more than just "mash buttons".

Also, take a guess where my name comes from.

Let's see. I do enjoy playing RTS games. Though I am shit at them, shiny arrogant shit, but nevertheless shit.

When it comes to RPGs, I'll cheat, I'll cheat my bloody ass off. But that is after I've completed it once. I can do those games on normal, but then I'll have done it. And I'll only replay it for the story/characters.

I refuse to play on easy no matter what game it is or skill level I am...The exceptions being Minecraft (peaceful), and games in which I die at a monstrous rate. (Baldur's Gate, it's an awesome game, but I suck at it when it comes down to the combat.)

Same as OP.

Jesus Christ I am bad at RTS games, but man do I love them. It doesn't help that I have a lot of friends who are very, very good at them. I have a strong tendency to just try one strategy, get invested in it, and then keep trying to justify not reacting to the situation with sunk costs.

My inability to play Total Annihilation is a running joke among certain friends. When we all played together, I would be building my base and right when I felt like I was getting somewhere, one of the other players would destroy my entire base in passing. Not figuratively in passing either - since a lot of units in the game have independent movement and weapons, someone would just be moving their forces toward a more threatening enemy, not even watching their progress, and then suddenly notice that there was a smoking pile of ruins along their path when they went to check on their army's progress toward the actual threat.

All of them. I really suck at gaming. :)

Genre i suck most ? 4x games. I simply can't resist "just one more turn" at Civilization.

RTS and RPG's. The former is well a commont trait, but its also because I rarely play them (though I love them to pieces, especially the base building thing... But I have learned through the internet that turtle camping in an online game is a noob tactic...). RPG's I have a problem because I have a tendency to want to become the jack of all trades, or at least the jack of trades that don't really match (I mean, in fallout, High intellegence and charisma... BUT YOU TAGGED GUNS? What the hell are you thinking, 5t3v0?)

Mortal Kombat is one of my favourite games, But I suck at it.

I play Johnny Cage and just assume that there going to Spam Scorpions/Ermacs/Smokes teleport (Which they usually do) so i just wait to block that and then hit em with my best combo, If they show genuine skill I'm F'd.
