You should play Bioshock on easy. It actually isn't too bad. I play through on normal the first time, then usually go back through on easy so I can look at everything without having to worry about a splicer killing me while I am gazing at some interesting poster or out one of the many windows at the rest of the city. Plus, because of the Plasmids, you can concentrate more on the "magic" ways of killing people instead of the guns. I say this as someone who took like 20 hours to get through the hardcore campaign on Gears of War the first (you can get through this campaign easily in under 10 hours), and that was with an experienced Gears player as my co-player. He wanted to handicap himself to make the challenge even higher. It worked.Jenova65 said:I suck at FPS which isn't a big deal mostly (cos I don't love it) but is frustrating when there are games I would like to play in the genre like Bioshock.
Same here, I just like slowly building up an economy and defences followed by a huge near invincible army that can swipe the map in one go too much.veloper said:RTS
I love the genre, but I'm too slow at multitasking to even compete with average players.
I'm good at TBS though, because these games give you the time to act.
That reminds me, I started a game with about 102 planets a while ago that I haven't finished yet.Evil the White said:RTSs mostly. Picked up a copy of Sins of a Solar empire on the cheap and I love it. Pity I also can't quite work out how to build up my fleet quite as fast as the enemy.
My son does that with GoW when he wants a challenge he plays it with memeganmeave said:You should play Bioshock on easy. It actually isn't too bad. Oh, you should try it. I'm not going to go on a big rant about how great the story is and all that. You can read about twenty different threads about that I'm sure. But, the environment is so beautifully done. They really spent a great deal of time with all the little touches. It is very different than something like DA or ME though. Very dark, and lonely. But beautiful game design.Jenova65 said:My son does that with GoW when he wants a challenge he plays it with memeganmeave said:You should play Bioshock on easy. It actually isn't too bad. MiracleOfSound has used that same reasoning with Bioshock, and I am thinking about it......
God, I suck at RTSs too. I am the worst turtler imaginable, because I'm a perfectionist. It looks gorgeous, I have watched 'L', play it and the environment is just lovely. I really like Rapture's version of Disney World's 'Great Movie Ride'meganmeave said:Oh, you should try it. I don't know if you play online or not, but this strategy actually works well if you are playing with someone who does the dirty work of throwing themselves on the enemy the whole game. Sometimes when I play with my brother online, we designate a turtler. That person gets all the resources and builds a massive wall, as many towers as possible and then we all move into their territory, no matter where we started out. Obviously this only works on RTS games where you can start as "nomad" or some such thing, not RTS games where there are limited starting areas. But it can be an effective strategy. What really sucks though, is if your turtler is destroyed, then you have to dash like hell to the other side of the map to start all over again with all your gatherers while the enemy works on destroying your old buildings. The key to this is knowing when it is too late. Stay behind too long and you'll have no one left to send across the map.Gill Kaiser said:God, I suck at RTSs too. So escapsit's, what's a game genre you love to play but aren't very good at.
1) I build no soldiers, but instead build as many workers as possible and get them harvesting.
2) I build an enormous wall around my settlement, then start building up the various structures required for research.
3) I research everything in the game. All this time I have no soldiers defending me.
4) Instead of making combat units, I simply add static defense systems to my walls, then make a double or triple wall interspersed with even more defense towers.
5) Only when I have researched the most elite unit available to my faction will I start making units. I will only make that specific unit. I make an entire army of them, and then attempt to run around annihilating things.
6) I will have bankrupted myself on my elite army, so if it's destroyed I am as good as dead.
Pretty much this, I love those "how the hell did I do that?!" moments, followed by more manic button mashing trying to do it again.CoverYourHead said:Fighting games are always fun to play with friends, mostly because no one knows how to do anything cool, which just makes it more fun when someone manages to do something awesome. Dead or Alive is the best for this in my opinion.
