s?So I'm a huge Roman history nerd. As I was reading through Robert Harris' 'Conspirita' for the third time the other night (a novel which I highly recommend as well as its prequel 'Imperium.' Even if you aren't a history fan, they are just good intriguing books, but I digress.)
Basically in this game you take control of a Roman family. Whether you are a "new man" from the provinces trying to carve out a place for your family in the elite oligarchy that runs Rome or are the heir of a old Patrician family which has fallen out of grace. You control the patriarch of your family and decide how you will make a name for yourself. Either on the battlefield, in the law courts, or on the Senate floor itself. Only those willing to grab opportunity by the throat can hope to achieve the ultimate goal of Imperium.
As your patriarch enters retirement, the legacy he leaves behind will either hinder or promote the career of your son. Will he follow in his fathers footsteps or forge his own path?
As the game goes on, your family estate/villa are decorated with the consular masks and military glory of your ancestors. Perhaps even one day your family can become powerful enough to make the boldest move of all and assume the title of Emperor.
If you have read all of this... congratulations. I just wrote this out as it came to me. the idea is that the game would be full of forging alliances with other families through marriage, backstabbing, intrigue. For me, this would be an awesome game. Thoughts? Opinions? Troll?
