I like the hotwireing idea, how about a zombie snacking on a corpse that has the keys type of scenario as well.

I think one thing that would be great for this game is a large open world that could be freely explored with lots of content to be found.
Moving objects and creating barrakades would be cool.
Also if your working with a team maybe being able to take over as any companion character to meet a specific objective, and to select teams to complete objectives.

i.e.- there is a fence with a hole in it you send the child through to go over and find the keys to the padlock on a security agent, you could play as any member of the team, maybe use a sniper to cover him/her, or a melee to cause a distraction and draw zombies to another area.

Sounds incredibly ambitious.
It's a decent idea, but probably only holds up as a concept.
Reading through the features suggests it might be more cost effective to develop a cure for HIV and do the whole thing for real.
But I'm guessing this isn't meant to be a game you actually make, so in that case it sounds great, if a little generic with regard to story.

I have been thinking about something similar but with the possibility if larger groups and with isometric view. Also I have been thinking about making it everything being randomly generated and to give the user the possibility to specify the type of zombies, percentage of gun owners and things like that to make every play through a bit different.

Sounds pretty good to me, bar one sightly major concern. Almost every new game pitch I've read on this website or others is a zombie apocalypse game. I'm not sure why, it just seems to be the genre of choice. Hell, even I came up with one a while ago.

I don't want to put you off, and if you choose to go ahead with trying to make it I wish you the absolute best, but I'd advise you to toy around with a few different concepts first.

Interesting idea. Excuse my bluntness:

To be honest, its all been done before. Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Resident Evil, Dead Space etc. etc. All experimented with the whole Zombie Apocalypse or at least some form of apocalypse. And to be honest I personally think that they could ALL be improved with a better storyline.

Most survival horrors seem to follow the Left 4 Dead storyline best described by Yahtzee. "Here are some Zombies." In my opinion if your going to go for this kind of idea it needs to have story with depth, but which is original. Otherwise your basically playing Dead Rising survival mode.

The general concept of this idea is very good and you describe a lot of content that I would like to see in survival horror games. But I think youll need to concentrate more on the story.

I don't think you should explain the outbreak. Part of the excitement of the horror genre for me is the not knowing why this is happening, portrayed best in the first Condemned game. Leave it for the player to fill in the blanks, but perhaps give hints as to possible reasons and allowing the user to select which one they think is the truth.

If your going to have allies for the main character, then you will need to make sure that the A.I is at least slightly intelligent for them as well. No point in making the zombies geniuses if your allies are retards. Im sure Im not the only one who gets pissed off in these kind of games where your, "allies", decide to jump in front of your freaking gun fire. Especially when you have limited ammo.

I like the idea that you don't have to help people if you dont want to as long as you don't get a bad ending for it. The whole point of SURVIVAL horror is to survive and you should be forced to do stuff you wouldnt like to do.

Also a good idea is if your allies get infected. I like the idea of getting a strong bound with one of the NPC allies then having them get infected. Itll bring up great morale choices trying to decide whether you want to do the sensible thing and take out the threat, or try to help them. But this shouldn't be a plot point for the storyline. It should be able to happen all the time and leave you constantly dreading the next fight, knowing that one or more of your allies could die.

In summary:

- Focus more on the storyline and less on gore and fights. Try to think of something original.

- Smart A.I for your allies as well as the zombies. Could turn into a huge battle of wits between you and the zombies.

- Involve morale choices. You should seriously have to think before making a decision.

Apart from that, it sounds like the makings of a good game.

I like it! I reckon it could have killer multiplayer scenarios .... like allow for non-linear story progression ... like Stalker ... and have a Co-op online mode for the singleplayer ....

And have settlements rather than survivors ... like only having one or two survivors every square mile might heighten tension .. but having camps will make it feel more community-based.

*idea*

You could also have other fun things in the multiplayer .... like have a scenario where there are waves and waves of NPC zombies .... and its just you plus 16 other people in a roamable city block with a couple of underground bits and towers ... which you have to search through to get weapons....

So you can do the team thing and go together as a group, or if you're greedy and want that super powered shotgun spawn on the top layer of a tower ... you run off to get it before your teammates get the idea ....

And what happens is it becomes a battle royale like scenario ... like zombies are everywherem, appearing everywhere where there are shadows and so forth ... *IMPORTANT* and as soon as someone gets bitten they become infected!!! And they get to control a zombie each and every wave......

So if you get bitten and turn into a zombie the next round .. you can take your revenge out on someone on your team that left you for dead!! Lol :D

So each time a person dies ... it becomes harder and harder to win .... because you get more and more human controlled zombies as well as total zombie numbers...

And when it gets down to 5 people ... you can allow the human characters to teamkill each other .... so it becomes a mexican standoff like situation, like ... Blow off that zombie's head ... or shoot that pretty, young girl with the Mac 10 before she gets the same idea! But as soon as you kill another human player .. your position and your wrong doings are advertised for a shortwhile to everybody!! And you had better like the prospect of surviving alone and fleeing the zombie masses by yourself from then on!

oh ... and when you get down to one person, you have to get to a randomly determined location for retrieval via helicopter or some sort ... to stop campers from staying in the pickup location for the entirety of the online game.

Personally I would like to see how loyalties work out in a game like that ... like lets say you form a budding relationship with someone ... and you decide to link up together as you get down to 7-08 players strewn across the map ... but at the same time ... that niggling feeling in the back of your head is going off that they could be levelling their rifle at thge back of your skull waiting to pop a cap in it. Brrrr *shivers* spooky feeling :D

Or it could be that its just you and a friend and its down to 5 players total ... and both of you decide that you shouldnt waste your limited ammunition on eachother and just use it on zombies or players that are on their own ... and then the Mac 10 spawns infront of both players .... lol .... that'd be a killer scenario.

*end of Idea*

But personally I like your idea n.n
