After reading "2012 Wont Happen"s thread on a stealth shooter game idea I thought I'd post my own.

Essentially inspired by God of War III's fighting-on-a-titan settings and the general idea that any game could be turned into an RTS with the right creative thought; The game I envisioned was a mix between Beat 'em up and RTS elements. Basically its two titans slogging it out whilst each has a civilisation on its back and about its body that's trying to help out.

now this could be weighted on either one, a relatively straight BEU where you can level passive benefits between fights. A mix of both with a complex system of very slow BEU where you chain up commands top be carried out or react to your opponents whilst keeping track of your civilisation symbiotes. Or even one entirely weighted to RTS where the titans are so slow or just don't have any player control and you control only the forces on a constantly shifting map.

Basically I love RTS and I love RPG elements in RTS, like the levelling of characters in Warcraft III or the force commander in Dawn of War one (my personnal favourite all time game)

So any thoughts? Ideas? Random monkey poo to fling in my direction?

It's.......inventive to say the least. It sounds sort of like Demigod, an RTS centered around extremley overpowered hero characters.

So you level a town, that's located on a giant titan, and you fight other giant titans.

I'm not convinced...

Reminds me a little of black and white. So, as you improve you town in different ways, your titan improves? Increasing military boosts strength, religion (temples and shrines and things) gives it magic, population=health? (can't think of any more)

The levelling would be the titan, the town would have a more resource and troop management theme
But I'm not trying to sell it as a game that would appeal to everyone. Maybe I have strangely niche tastes

Wait, wait.

The titan is just a general of an army? So it's troops v. troops and there's just a random titan there to fight.

I now don't like the idea at all, it's basically Demigod.

Thats the thing the titan forms general and battleground
Plus the idea of lostclause:

This is better than what I had originally intended, the idea of the symbiotic relationship is a good one. The better the titan the more resources for the town, the better the town the more strength and abilities for the titan.

I was just trying to find another level for an RTS that would incorporate an interesting new RPG element

There is "Phantom Dust" (RTS / beat´em up), but it´s kind of different from what you describe.

An intriguing idea, but it sounds like the gameplay would be a *****. Having to simultaneously manage a town and resources while kicking a titan's ass? I've only got two hands!

So a gigantic titan that has an entire civilization on it's back building it and making it better to destroy the other giant civilization titan?

That sounds pretty awesome, I must say.
