i think it would be a cool idea if the character keeps thinking he sees glimpses of someone in the house. after a few times he realizes he's not imagining it, and tries to follow the person to ask for help or watever. after tracking him/her down into a room, the door suddenly locks itself and the person distorts until it becomes some badass zombie creature you have to fight. it could be a boss battle or something.
