I figured since normally on the escapist we tend to get threads where we are asked to come up with gaming ideas which would be amazing, innovating, bring about peace on consoles that we should take a break and go slightly bat-shit insane.

What completely insane ideas do you have for a game?

My contribution was inspired by a fools fantasy as to what i hoped Heavy Rain would actually end up being. Yes, after looking at the european box art* I started wanting my own extreme weather origami game, imagine how wonderful it would be to challenge your friend online to who can make the most convincing swan out of toilet paper in a catergory 5 hurricane.

An RPG where you play a terminally ill character who starts out as 100 leveled killing machine and his level decreases when you get experience.

Well you got the whole insane part down, i love the idea of people boosting that their character can't hold his own rusty dagger anymore and that health spells are now on a constant spam :D

No one else? Okay, another one:

A game with a choice-based story similar to Bioware's games, but... You start from where the game ends, which is everything going to hell.
But then [plot device] makes you jump back in time, several times, so that you see the story and events (which you already have learned as previously) unfold in reversed chronological order... And you can choose to try and change the end of the game... But obviously, you are constantly warned of how things might get much worse if you mess around with space-time.
Expect different mind-fucks at the end, depending on how you try to play it.

Wait, is that insane or just an awesome story concept?

I need to write this down...

A satirical FPS which starts out with showing two FPS playing junkies in live action, then one of them gets REAAAAALY high and has a trip, and so the game begins...

You cannot see what you are, but you are in a Alice in Wonderland-inspired dreamworld where there are lots of trees, clear and sunny sky, and you're standing on a yellow brick road. A unicorn comes out of nowhere and says that you must help it reach the other land via a rainbow, so you mount it and out of nowhere you get a hollow-stump shaped gun that shoots baby chicks (the yellow kind). You then ride the unicorn down the yellow brick road, and multicolored ponies, but mostly pink, keep trying to stop you. You can either shoot them to death with your chick gun or make your unicorn ram into them with its horn to kill them.

The boss battle at the entrance to the rainbow is against a white dragon.

Yes you heard me, a white dragon.

And then I haven't come up with what happens after that.

Yep, awesome FPS huh?

Woman impregnated with the child of Satan is possessed by evil spirits to take out the clegery and fanatics who try to stop the birth of the Anti-Christ. However you get crazy ass powers to take them out, one such being having the Prince of Darkness burst out of the girl's wazoo and run around like a dog on a leash killing people.

4 player game where each takes on one character:
-Death
-Serial Killer
-Police
-Victim
Death and the Serial Killer are on a similar team, while the Police and Victim have to work together to survive.
Death has to set up traps and the environment, but cannot physically hurt/touch anyone. Meanwhile, the Killer has to use the traps Death set up to kill the Victim and Police. (ex: Death springs a gas leak in the room where Victim is, so Killer throws a match and burns Victim alive). The two communicate with Death's interactions (ex: Death can spray arrows on the walls to lead Killer, but they fade after a while)

The Victim and Police start separate from each other and can't communicate but have lights that will light up in brightness to indicate proximity to each other (but these can give them away to Killer). The Victim can't attack the Serial Killer and can only hide in places (nooks/crannies) that the Killer can't get to. The Police however has the basic arsenal (gun, limited ammo, flashlight, radio that crackles when Death is near). This way, the Victim hides from the Killer while the Police hunts and shoots him. But they have to be wary to evade Death, who will alert the Killer of their position, and the traps he sets.

So basically, Mass Effect in reverse. That would actually be really cool. I'd buy it.

Ehh, nothing oddworld stranger can't beat but......
It's a dark and gothic city, where everythning is struggling to survive. Dazed people wonder the streets looking for a quick end to their miserable lives, dogs and cats have become used to the taste of human flesh, and as such are prone to attacking the weakest looking humans. In all this you are an insignificant rat, trying to get by on moldy cheese and left over fast food. There is no real point to the game, you can try to kill other animals and stuff, but there is an actual story to be had. You have to be in the right place at the right time though, otherwise you'll completely miss it. And after a certain number of days, the city you're in explodes and is left in nuclear ruin. Of course you can prevent this so long as you follow the story and help the protagonist from getting killed. The protagonist is a detective or something but is sort of gun-ho about things or just naive. So it's up to you to disable traps and bombs he may trip, or distract guards by leaping on them from ledges. Also, you have to be wary of things that want to eat you, ranging from other rats to hungry hungry hobo's.

Deliverance: The Game

That'd be pretty fucked up

A game where you hunt people down in a jungle, but you don't have any weapons. Instead you have to fashion them from body parts of your victims, so you'd have bone spears, jaw knives, etc. However, a body can be used for more than just weapons, you can either use them as bait (ex: props to attract person into a pit, then kill them) OR cannibalize them to refill your health (because it doesn't grow back and there are no health packs).

Memento the game? Or even worse...The Butterfly Effect!

My idea is a food eating tournament, complete with crazy dialogue, outrageous characters, incredibly lame backstory (a la Yu-Gi-Oh) and it even comes with it's own peripherals!

Which you have to eat.

Surprisingly, that sounds extremely interesting. [small]That must mean that I'm insane.[/small]

How about a non-linear casual indie game in which you are the omnipresent being that controls all inanimate objects. You can interact with different objects in people's everyday lives to either help them accomplish their intended use, or cause them to do exactly the opposite.

Example: A man wants to wear a tie. Do you:

A) Let him wear the tie.

B) Not let him wear the tie.

C) Hang him with the tie.

The choice is it up to you...

Everyone would play it like they were the Death from Final Destination, only more homicidal.

I always though a Dexter game would be crazy. As in dexter morgan.

Or they could use the old movie called They Live and get some crazy ideas off that.

Meh...not necessarily. This would be more of a technological deity. You would be an indirect force that guides the objects, rather than a ghost that directly interacts with them.
