Probably a moment not thought of much, but on the boat level in Half-Life 2 when the headcrab shell hits the chimney.

Or just about every plot twist in Prey. That was fucked up.

Meeting Andrew Ryan in Bioshock.

I'm a writer myself, so to see such an amazing unexpected plot twist like that made me slightly aroused and amazed.

Oh, and of course descending into Rapture in Bioshock.

The whole fucking game is amazing.
Bioshock really turned it's self around after meeting Andrew Ryan. Before then it was boring.
The word is "itself". Not "its self" and especially not "it's self"! You'd think with "himself" and "herself" people wouldn't be making this mistake!

*ahem*

Anyway, three moments from FF7 spring to mind.
1. The first boss battle. Not for the battle itself (see what I did there? Spontaneously, even), but for hearing the boss music that first time. Massive air-guitar playing did happen that day, oh yes.
2. Shinra dropping the plate on Midgar. Even knowing it would happen, the shock of watching it take place... I had to stop for the day there.
3. Aeris' death. Take point #2 and add the sadness of watching a favorite character get killed permanently...
I didn't ask for an English lesson.

The big revelation in Mass Effect, then the whole exposition-bot on Ilos. Wow, what a great story.

FFVII: The fmv of Sephiroth walking through the flames of Nibelheim and Sephiroth's murdering Aeris and her funeral. I had Yuffie and Vincent with me..watching Yuffie crying in Cloud's arms was sad and watching Vince was a riot cuz he had the game clitch where he looked like he was kicking himself in the ass :)

When the chopper crashed in Modern Warfare 1, in Pripyat. When you spot it, you think 'Ho shit', and when it starts falling in your direction you think 'HOOO SHIIIII-' CRASH.

The ending of KoTOR 1.

A lot of BioShock - I simply loooooved the environment, and the plot twist was really great.

CoD4 Nuke moment left me feeling that way too.

I recently found that my girlfriend deleted my Mass Effect data from the 360 hard drive in order to make more room for her countless Fable II saves (Khaaaaaaaann!) And I'm debating on whether I want to play through it again (I was like 50 hours into the game, and had done like every side quest/dialogue I could find). But I hear the ending is great...buuuuut I could always watch it on youtube.

Also, I put Dragon Age down for the holidays, and haven't been motivated to pick it up again...but I hear that ending is great too (again like 30 hours into the game).

Fallout 3: Point Lookout (or whatever it was called), the main quest in it was amazing. And Crisis Core. The summons are amazing (especially since it is on a hand held system), plus the ending of it.

Modern Warfare 2's Ending.

I said to myself 'I beat the entire campaign in under 4 hours on hard, I paid £50 for this, Wow I am such a tool'.

Probably that bit in bayonetta where you ride up the launching space ship, not a contoller dropping moment but more of a `holy crap`moment.

* Any time the G-Man shows up in Half Life 2/Episodes 1&2,when you enter Ravenholm and Ep 2's ending
* The Nuke going off and the "level" that followed and Shepards betrayal in MW's 1&2 respectively
* learning that Al Muwalim is a Templar in Assassins Creed

In Warcraft 3 when Arthas tells his men that Stratholme must be purged.

Very nice story line in those games, imo.

The first time I saw "Through the Fire and the Flames" finished on expert difficulty in real life. the kid who was playing it actually aced it.

Of course, he was weeping by the end of it and had to go put his fingers in an icebox.

That's some serious determination right there.
I wouldn't be sure to either congratulate him or pity him...
