I don't see WHY we need to make any game into a movie nowadays. You can tell any story you want to using in-game cinematics and make them just as thrilling as any action film. And as long as you balance it with an appropriate amount of gameplay, you can make the story an hour or 20 hours long. Movies, on the other hand, really shouldn't be longer than 2 hours.
Example: What could you possibly add to the Metal Gear series with a 2 hr movie? The stories are there, the action is there, and there's already 50+ hours of it. Maybe, MAYBE you could do a movie based on the first two games, seeing as they have no voice acting or anything.
But if you want to tell a story, just make a game and tell the story.
