so, I just stumbled upon this while browsing youtube:

Suddenly all the feels came rushing! Be it because FFIX is just that memorable or a testament to Nobuo Uematsu's skill as a composer, I still get a little teary in the eyes whenever I hear this song. Be it the original Japanes/English in-game version or an instrumental or a remix like this! After nearly 12 years when I first heard it!

So what game music evokes the same feelings for you?
EDIT:
Forgot how to embed YouTube vids here, so here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QltyxVnIytk

I can definitely echo the music from Final Fantasy as one of mine.

To Zanarkand always gets me. The strange this is, I never even completed Final Fantasy IX, so I don't get why I'm invested in that song.

I can also echo Mass Effect's mentioning above, I think the track is called 'Leaving Earth' that gets me. I actually did complete that game and understand my emotional involvement/response to that music.

One song that brings the tingles is the opening/theme of Dragon Age: Origins. This Motha'f***er gets me every time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWFEVbfCcOY

Never More - Persona 4

This song brings back so many memories... When I first completed the game and the credits rolled to this track, I felt so empty. The game had such a profound impact on me that I immediately jumped back in to experience it again.

*sniff* Shut up, I'm not crying!

The memories this brought back when I stumbled across it...
My sister lived in this horrible, grotty flat, and they had a computer with The Sims on it... and I made this house in which every wall was just covered in those multi-coloured boomerang windows.

It was painful...

This:
...reminds me of when I had friends.
I made the Project Rub goldfish as a sticker, and I'd made a very, very, very dark purple ship, similar to the Black Bull's but stronger... much better at smashing people off the road. Hmmm... :/

And this:
...although much more recent, will always bring me back to one of the best holidays I've ever had.

Jolly Roger Bay once brought back memories way back... but I've listened to that so often since it's lost that edge. Bleh, I don't know why I bother... nobody reads other people's posts in these kinds of threads anyway...

Plus the last song

The Witcher 2 Theme music

I remember seeing the first trailer for Fallout 3. That song was awesome.

Most of the music from Dark Souls

A Mandatory thumbs up to Mass Effect. No matter what you say about Mass Effect, the music was incredible.

God i love this song. To me it brings back memories of first getting my DS and after getting through the rest of the game ignoring the music i met Marshall in the car park and the tune just floored me. If i have to think of my old DS (unfortunately now broken) and the damn good times i had back then I think of this song

Dat Suicide Mission from ME2.

And a surprising large amount of the Halo (1) soundtrack. Not the music itself, but the individual memories of the game each song invokes. Aced that fucker on legendary before there was an achievement to. I'm talking "old school". I'm talking about the Xbox 1, no wait... The Xbox ... original? DAMN YOU MICROSOFT FOR YOUR CONVOLUTED NAMING SCHEME!!!

IT'S NOT A TUMOR! (Like I said, "old school")

A bunch of stuff from the Fire Emblem soundtracks give me the feels, especially these two pieces.

This one plays during one of the sadder moments in FE history.

This one just reminds me of laying in the hospital bed, finally finishing the game after 40 hours or so.

Probably the best game theme I know- Completely fits the feel of the game and isn't really generic, like some above mentioned which I will not name.

This theme always soothes me, because it is gentle and plays in a lot of memorable moments.

The credit music Smiles and Tears from Earthbound is one that still moves me. Last year, when I was quite depressed, I'd just sit and listen to this song just to make me feel better, and it usually worked.

Everything else I can think of makes me feel like a badass, so I'll go with the emotional one.

A distressingly high amount of World of Warcraft soundtracks, especially ones such as Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Duskwood, Grizzly Hills, Howling Fjord, Durotar, The Barrens, Ashenvale, Teldrassil, Azuremyst Isle suite... I could go on and on. It's mostly nostalgia but still.

Many, many Halo tracks also give me the feels, but this one especially gives me it. It is so well placed. The choir is heard as you venture through the storm, it begins it's transition as you jump down and see the Control Room, and then it turns into the electro part when the battle begins. Really good stuff.

I've always found, as people do, that music acts as an associative 'gateway' to memories, acting as it does on our sensory processing and recollection. I think that's especially true of gaming, though sometimes in a slightly strange way since the OST's from games typically act as a single art asset, in amongst the gestalt of other art media, mechanics and story - rather than being music that exists for its own sake.

I'm a big fan of the practice of selling the soundtrack and art book as deluxe collectibles, since it gives gamers that much more access to the experiences they enjoy and often a few royalty dollars to the contributing creators who typically get paid in finite contracts or smaller salaries. It's usually a win win arrangement between companies, creatives and consumers.

---

Reflections out of the way, here's some OST material and (some) licensed music from various games that really enhanced the experience and I enjoy listening to by themselves.

List's kinda all over the place and I'd keep adding to it forever if I could, so just take it as a pick and mix.
