Game music, Favourite?

Hello Escapist,

What is your favourite type of game music, be it the bleeps and bloops of the glorious 8-bit era, the sweeping orchestral scores of the more recent game or any other I can't currently recall

I personally am not a big fan of orchestral music in games as it fades into the background for me, I'm mainly basing this on Final Fantasy games to be fair, but in VII I can recall multiple songs from it, but in XIII, i cannot, shame.

I grew up playing halo so it would be the original halo track or oblivion music or even possibly fallout 3s.

I like the ambient type of music, not really a song. more of a long loop. Like the scores in oblivion, fallout 3, red dead redemption. stuff like that.

EDIT: My favorite would have to be the soundtrack(s) to Final Fantasy 11, it had some beast music.

8-bit, orchestral... I don't really have a preference as long as it really suits the game well...and doesn't suck.

Depends on the mood of the game.
Some Examples.

I like orchestral music for games like The Legend of Zelda.
And i like creepy Spacey music for games like Metroid.

I don't really care for the games, but the Xenosaga series of games has an amazing soundtrack. I've actually bought the osts for use in tabletop gaming.
