This one from Metal Gear Rising that I heard the other day, now I haven't played it, but it makes me want to!

What's cool about MGR is that in most of the boss fights the soundtrack is split into an instrumental overture, and then a hellish blaze of power chords and roaring vocals when the first stage of the fight ends (this usually involves mashing a button to not die or cutting through stuff to not die). It does a fantastic job setting the tempo of things.

Also that big robot in the preview? You kill it by running up the missiles it shoots at you and cutting it in half. After you throw it across a downtown plaza.
I Need to play this game! Any idea which is the better version, 360, Ps3 or PC?

I thought that was fan art, you fight a Metal Gear Ray!? That's awesome, but as Raiden, before he was a cyborg, I took out a dozen, is there something special about it?
The PC and PS3 versions should be about identical, although the PC version uses your card for AA and supports 1080p (but no higher). The 360 version drops some particles and scenery bits and bobs. If you play on PC I would absolutely still use a 360 controller.

The Ray is the first boss. It's pretty easy-peasy, you fight it before the World Marshal mercs rip you apart and you get your new body that you have for the rest of the game.

Most of the remaining bosses are other cyborg mercenaries like yourself, or just introductory fights with enemies who are later just rank and file, like Grads. The merc fights are pretty ridiculous and each one requires a fairly unique approach. In spite of this, all of them more or less fight like you with unique weapons, so the skills you build as you play apply in boss fights as well.

If you don't know anything about the game, you really owe it to yourself to not spoil the final boss, which is... It's a pretty crazy fight is what it is.

Also, unlockable Mariachi costume. This is all.

Motoi Sakuraba is probably the primary reason to play a Tales game. Almost every battle becomes a high-adrenaline blast:

Also, the recurring 'Final Attack' theme from the Metal Slug series makes me want to demolish everything in sight (the game usually obliges you with an insane final battle).

Finally, countless classic Konami soundtracks never fail to get me amped up while playing.

One more...more-recent shmups have some absolutely ridiculous boss themes...

...and the 'True Final Boss' theme from the same game makes this one sound light-hearted by comparison 8-\

Oh man I can't believe I forgot Command and Conquer Generals: Zero Hour. All the civs have battle themes that kick in when the carnage begins, although America's is hands down the best.

Hearing this for the first time got me so psyched, it's still my favourite game soundtrack song.

Most of you guys have beaten me to it.
Bravely Default deserves a special mention, particularly for the characters "super themes", which in turn actually give you more power for the duration of the song!

And then the final boss theme goes and implements a medley of the super themes (and a few other battle/boss tracks from the game I think).

(Super theme medley kicks in at 4:40)

If you can, check out the concert/live version of the soundtrack. The super themes get vocalized, which is amazing. Even Praline's song gets made into a proper song ("Crossfire Love" I think)

It's not strictly videogame music, but since it appears in a video-game climax, here it is: Tears by Health

It makes me feel like I'm in that painkiller buzz, shootin' kneecaps and heads.

From Fire emblem:

That one just screams epic confrontation.

From Xenogears:
You hear this when shit's about to get real.

retro goodness

Since no one has mentioned it yet, definitely this one from Xenoblade

I prefer the more "subdued" themes (subdued being a very relative term in this case), like this final dungeon's theme [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2OGYMSfDfM], which manages to be very melancholic despite all the bombast.

Bravely Default deserves a special mention, particularly for the characters "super themes", which in turn actually give you more power for the duration of the song!

Also, I must state my satisfaction that the accordion is finally getting the deserves [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nahsjvs3Ay8]

In fact pretty much all of The Autarch's Best VGM collection can do that. Here's one he forgot:

Yakuza's long battle themes do a pretty good job of hyping you up. They kinda have to be, considering the nature of the games.
I only included 3 and onwards' because that's when I felt the music got good, but I'll chuck in these two as a bonus.
