Well guys, the wait is over! Join the user group Game of the Gods Arena, and get ready for your preliminary match-ups.

The Shifter sat on a throne of Crystal, simultaneously excited and disappointed. His game was about to begin, a glorious tribute to anarachy and Change. However, his spell had been disrupted by the machinations of his foes, greatly reducing the number of players. That had to be the only explanation; his spell couldn't have failed. Growling to itself, the Shifter summoned an inferno of blue flames. Leaping from the fire came several shapeless masses; Warp Sprites, creatures of pure emotion, answered the call of the Daemon of Tzeentch.

"Your time has come, little ones. Time for you to play. All of you, find your masks, and prepare for your part. Just remember, succeed and you'll be rewarded with a body of your own."

Citrus, just search for the group under Community -> User Groups. Sorry, but I'm a little green on these User Groups too, anyone know how to link?

And guys, there is a purpose for the dice rolls, don't worry. You'll find that out once everyone's all signed up.

[sub]On second thought, worrying isn't a half-bad idea[/sub]

The Necron Lord rebooted, it's internal chronometer scrambled by the magics of the Daemon of Tzeentch. Its last recorded memory video was also partially corrupted, but several distinct features had been pin-pointed. Prior scans of the surrounding area had revealed several life forms, but scans were incomplete.

---------------

--------

-----Analysis of recorded memory revealed lifeform from file designated Tyranid/LargeBioform/TyrantGenus/TyrantPrimus. Creature's primary arms are ended with multiple protrusions of carapace, containing shards of an unknown crystal. Threat level severe, advise destruction via Gauss weapon. AVOID close combat engagement. Resuming scans.

------------

---------------Further review of memory footage also reveals a suit of mechanised battle armor from file designated Tau/TauCombatChassis/XV8/UnknownVarient. Unable to assess threat level. Multiple potential weapons system noted, advised to disable suit at all costs. Armor of unidentified substence not capable of withstanding assault with Warscythe. Resume scan.

-------------------

------

-------Flash of light detected from unknown source. .00000476 seconds after appearance of light scans detected large creature designated Chaos/Tzeentch/DaemonBeast/LordOf-NaughtyNaughtyNecron....YouShouldBeFocusedOnYourNon-Life. File Corrupted.

+Unable to complete function. End Process.+

The Lord looked around its current location, not able to recognize its surrounding. Realizing that, for the moment, it was alone, it began to assess its situation in further detail.

-------------------

--------

----Crystaline structures bear latent heat signatures, purpose and usage unknown. Further scanning required.

-----------------

---------------

--Heat signatures resemble signatures of crystaline enclosure of previous location. Material has immeasurable power, and displays resilience to Warscythe technology. Sample must be obtained for further analysis. Continue scanning parameters.

-----------------

-------------

-----------------

Location bears no further heat signs. Beginning geographical/topographical scan.

--------------------

-------------

----Structure located. Foundation is intact, but walls and exterior show signs of extensive decay/damage. No other structures located. No topographical features of significance. Enter building for further analysis. Postpone Scan.

Entering the structure, the floors shuddered under the massive weight of the Necron construct. Highlighted by the emerald light of its Gauss weaponry, the Lord observed the features of the building's interior decoration. Damaged furniture and abandoned appliances revealed that this structure was a abandoned residence of ancient Terra, lost in time. A clatter of metal drew the attention of the Lord to the corner of the room it was currently in.

Audio generated by sudden release of metal object. Generation of motion undetected. Proceed to Thermal Scan.

---------------

----------

------------

----------------

Unable to detect any thermal signs. Proceed to Biological Scan.

-----------------

--------------

-------Detecting large mass of decayed flesh. Life signs absent. Motion trackers confirm movement. Begin Infra-red scan.

---------Detecting creature of quadrupedal design. Bioform unknown. No identifiable markings. No identifiable features. Prepare for engagement.

The Lord clutched its Warscythe with a metallic hand, engaging the energy circuit. The creature bounded forward, appendages flailing in response to the new arrival. Around its rotted neck, the unknown creature wore a strained collar. The silver tag of the collar bore the name Fluffy.

Here we go guys! On Friday, we'll start the first round of the qualifying rounds. Malifact has been chosen as the first victim competitor, and his opponent was chosen randomly based on his dice roll (told you there would be a purpose for those). So be ready, because on friday the fight begins!

The Necron Lord stepped in towards the charging beast, emerald fires blazing in the sockets of his skull-like visage, before lowering it's Warsctyhe and unleashing a barrage of devastating Gauss beams. Each blast targeted precisely at the base of the creatures rotting limbs; a surgically precise assault, the function of which would be to disable the creature before it could close, thus enabling him to carve it to pieces as it lay immobile. As it neared, his lightning arc flared to life, bolts of green lightning surging outwards as the creature approached.

I've been told I could still join, so here we go -
Grey Knight Grandmaster Maximillian Valenthyne, Commander of the special Inquisitorial Strike Force 247/C3M/A51/N3/666 Codename "Last batallion", under direct Orders from the high council of the Inquisition.

(Basically, one of the Commanders that my boyfriend invented for his rather impressive Grey knights force, fluff wise, they're a special group set to operate inside Imperial borders, and root out whoomever they deem tainted by demonic influence. - I'm not going to use the guy the way he's supposed to be though, that'd be well over 300 points)

Grey Knights Grandmaster - 145

Terminator Armor;

Mastercrafted Nemesis Psiweapon - +2 Str, Energy weapon, Force weapon(If an enemy is wounded by the weapon, the grey knight does a psytest, if he suceeds, the wounded model is slain outright, no matter how many wounds left)(15)

Bionics (10)

Psycannon: 18" S6 AP4 Assault3, No Invulnerable Saves. (30)

No points left for psi-powers :(
Dice rolls: 4/2

The Necron Lord's Systems whirred into action, mechanical joints moving fluidly despite eons of dormancy. The massive creature, a beast made of putrid flesh, bounded towards the construct of the C'tan, hideous tongue lolling happily. As the Necron raised its Warscythe, a voice a dimension away chuckled.

"Excellent! Let the Game finally begin!"

The Lord struck quickly, an amazing speed despite its age. However, the Beast matched its every move. Bounding forward, the Beast, a creature devoted to Father Nurgle, plowed straight into twin lances of crackling green lightning. Gauss streams pulsed over the creature, stripping away layers of flesh and gore. However, the simpleton plodded onwards, its awkward gait belying its unnatural speed.

Okay Guys, while the story unfolds in a dramatic sense, I'll list what happens in spoilers, action by action. For this first qualifying round, Lord Malifact was selected by the fates (the results of 2D6) to face a Beast of Nurgle (Told you those dice rolls played a part!).

I rolled on behalf of the Beast (and will for all NPCs). For Initiative, Malifact rolled a 4, combined with the Necron Lord's I4 giving him a total of 8. The Beast rolled a 6, combined with its I2 gave it a total of 8. A tie! After a re-roll, both the Beast and Lord Malifact rolled a 2, giving Malifact the initiative.

Malifact rolled to hit with his built-in Gauss Blaster, scoring two hits on a 4,5. Malifact rolled two wounds with a 5,6. The Beast saved both wounds on a 5,6. The Beast, with no shooting, bides its time.

A systematic analysis of the combat situation, and a simulation of continued Gauss exposure showed the Lord that combat was a preferable alternative to a long-ranged engagement. Engaging the dreaded Warscythe, the Necron Lord swung the millimetre-thin blade in a wide arc. Rapid strikes sheared flesh from bone in a calculated whirlwind, but only the initial thrust seemed to score any real damage. The Beast, delighted by its new playmate, embraced the Lord with writhing tentacles and phlanges. The Lord scythed off one of the repulsive limbs, but the others found purchase; a searing acid dissolved the Necrodermis of the Lord's shoulder pauldron, and weakened its swing. A spark of energy flared into life at the touch of the decayed flesh, but the effect was unregistered by the creature.

Lord charges into combat, rolling a 1,3,6 to Hit. From those two hits, Malifact rolled a 2,5 to wound. The T5 Beast takes one wound, with no saves of any kind allowed from the Warscythe. The Beast rolls a 4 for its number of attacks. The Beast's to Hit rolls are 1,4,5,6. The Beast, gifted with Noxious Touch (Poison 2+), rolls 4,4,6 to Wound. Malifact rolls a 2,5,5 to save, meaning that he fails one of his 3+ saves.

The Necron Lord, unfamiliar with the concept of damage on its metallic frame, assaulted the Creature with renewed vigour. The Warscythe fell in rapid arcs, effortlessly separating limbs and parts unrecognisable from the mound of flesh. With a final glare of contempt, the Lord thrust its blade through the Beast's head. Exploding it a putrid shower of rotted gore, the Necron was covered in the flesh and fluids of its unworthy foe. A stained collar, bearing the name Fluffy, fell to the dust-covered floor of the ancient dwelling. Looking like a walking Charnal House, the Lord activated its energy field once again; bits of the carcass were seared off, leaving the Necron construct shimmering again.

The Necron Lord rolls to hit, scoring a 3,5,6. Rolling to wound, the Lord scores a 1,4,4. Causing two wounds, the Beast is slain outright. Lord Malifact wins, advancing into the quarterfinals!

Flaring into life, the crystal structures that the Lord had been examining were now shining beacons of ever-shifting light. The Lord stepped outside, scanning the surrounding area for the source of the sudden phenomenon. Before a diagnostic could be completed, a booming voice echoed out over the barren plains...

"Well done, steel-thing, well done! I was slightly disappointed it took you that long, but then again your kind were never known for their swift wits. If you want to return to your precious Star Gods, then I suggest you follow the pretty lights. Otherwise, you can stay here and rot....seems like that happens rather easily, doesn't it?"

And with a cackling laughter, the voice faded into silence. After running a few cycles to contemplate its next action, the Necron slowly marched along the path of Crystals. It headed towards a direction unknown, but something seemed like this was the path it was meant to be taking.

...back in the house, a stale wind spread the odor and decay around the room of the Beast's corpse. An old collar, stretched by the creature's tainted growth, slowly slid across the floor. Catching itself on a stray rib, the tag flipped over, hiding the name Fluffy; on the reverse was a engraving, three circles in a triangular pattern.

While the Necron Lord slowly stalked after a trail of lights, a man awoke thousands of worlds away. Inhaling a deep breath of fertile jungle air, Commissar-General Marcus Antioch awoke in a hazy state. The man stood up, dusting off his crisp black uniform, and tried to recall his thoughts. He remembered standing in the middle of an immense arena, surrounded by a large assortment of creatures and constructs. Then, an immense thing with a bird-like head started cackling, talking about a plan and a game. Whatever that creature had said was clearly nothing but heresy. The commissar knew that he must dispose of the Chaos creature, and stop any plans it had concocted. Starting off towards parts unknown, the Commissar hacked his way through the surrounding jungle.

As he walked through the canopy of blue ferns and neon-coloured palms, Antioch was unaware he was being scanned. A large suit, concealed beneath the shadow of the forest, stalked the Commissar Lord. As it adjusted the firing mechanism on its multi-barreled weapons system, two drones also sparked into life. Powering on its primary battle computer, the battlesuit prepared to strike.

-------------------------------

Walking into a clearing, the Lord Commissar gasped as he stared at an unexpected sight; an immense Pyramid, formed from a unknown crystal, towered in front of Marcus. Shimmering slightly, the Pyramid shifted colours with the gentle gusts of wind. Trailing off into the distance was a pathway of the crystals, lined with yellowed bones. Standing prominently in the middle the pavillion of the site was an altar. Marcus Antioch walked into the middle of the pavillion, staring at was clearly a sacrificial altar. Having heard ancient Terran legends about tribes of savages cutting the hearts out of victims in honour of their pagan Gods, the Commissar spat at the notion of their heresy. True, they had existed before His grace, but they were still blasphemers. Staring at the shockingly-clean blade of the knife, the Lord noticed a sudden flash of bright blue light....gun fire! Rolling out of the way, he barely dodged a salvo of plasma blasts.

Soaring into the clearing, the Battlesuit crashed into the ground. Clearly of Tau design, the suit caught the Commissar flat-footed. While Marcus regained his footing, he growled in pain as he felt his midsection burning; the suit's burst cannon fired a massive burst of plasma, catchng the man with a stray shot. Then, the Tau's two drones spun into life firing off a salvo of green pulse fire. However, the oppressive heat was clearly interfering with their targetting system, and their shots strayed off wildly. The Commissar drew his Storm Bolter, intent on delivering the justice of the Emperor to the faithless fool; however, his injury prevented a killing blow, striking the suit in the arm.

Well, here goes round two of the qualifying round: Lord Commissar Marcus Antioch vs. A Tau Shas'Vre battlesuit. The Shas'Vre is heavily armed, packing a twin-linked burst cannon and two gun drones. Not_The_DM rolled a 1 for initiative, for a total of 4, the shas'vre rolled a 2 for a total of 5. The Shas'vre wins initiative, and goes first. The Shas fires its twin-linked burst cannon, rolling a 4,5,5 to Hit. To wound, the Shas scores a 1,1,2. Only one wound is caused, but the Commissar rolls a 1 to save, taking a wound. Both gun drones fire, but fail horribly (to Hit rolls are 1,4 and 1,2 on the re-rolls). The Commissar fires his Storm Bolter, rolling a 1,4 to hit. He scores one wound with a 4, but the wound is saved on a 4.

Analysing its weapon, struck by a stray bolter shell, the suit clearly discovered its weapons were malfunctioning. Rather than risking an overload and ruining its weapons forever, it opted to power the Burst Cannon down and allow its repair systems take over. Screaming something insane about the Greater Good, the suit charged towards the Commissar. Readying his power sword, the Commissar was shocked at the thing's speed. Bowled over by the suit's momentum, the commissar fell back on to the Sacrificial altar dazed but unharmed. The Commissar regained his footing quickly though, grinning savagely as he hacked at the suit's armor. The suit wasn't a particularly skilled opponent, but its armor proved too tough for Antioch's Power sword to penetrate.

Before I start this part, I would like to address something that came up during this fight. I elected to charge the Lord Commissar with the battlesuit, a move that Not_the_DM thought was rather suicidal. Disclosure: I rolled for the Battlesuit randomly, and privately. On a 3+ I would continue to shoot, on a 1 or 2 I charge. I rolled a 1, and so rolled to charge in. Also, I've learned the hard way to NEVER underestimate the Tau, even in combat. I once saw a single Crisis commander hold off a Space Marine Commander and Tactical Squad in combat, killing a couple a turn and eventually routing them.

Anyways, in combat the Crisis Suit rolls a 6 for initiative (9 total) vs the Lord Commissar's roll of 1 (4 total...not too quick on the draw, this Commissar). With three attacks on the charge, rolls to Hit are 1,3,5. To wound roll is 3. The Commissar saves the wound on 6. The Lord fights back with rolls to Hit of 2,3,5,6. To Wound rolls are 1,1,3. No wounds caused by the Lord.

Roaring a prayer to the Emperor, the Lord parried a blow from the battlesuit. Striking like a snake, Antioch's Power Sword swept out and severed a fuel line, slowing the suit's movement. However, the stored power supply of the suit caused a vicious blow to the Commissar, sending him sprawling over the Altar.

Retreating from the sprawled Commissar, the veteran Tau warrior analyzed its primary weapon; the automated repair system had re-engaged the majority of the Burst Cannon's functionality. Powering up it's jetpack, the Tau was surprised as a small metal sliver flew past its viewport; the gue'la had flung the ancient dagger at the Battlesuit as a vain attempt at a surprise blow. Turning around, the Tau powered its burst cannon back on...this Gue'la had a fighting spirit, to be sure, but it was time to deliver Mont'ka.

Not_the_DM elected to stay in combat. Shas to Hit rolls are 3,5. To Wound roll is 6. The Lord rolls a 2 to save, taking another wound. The Commissar strikes back, with to Hit rolls 1,2,5,5. To Wound rolls are 4,6. The Shas takes one wound with no save allowed from the Power Sword. The Shas elects to leave combat, and succeeds with a 4. The Lord's free attack hits on a 4, but fails to wound with a 3.

Deeming that the alien was a legitimate threat, the Commissar decided to eliminate the alien threat once and for all. Drawing his plasma pistol, the Commissar drew a bead on the large target that was the Battlesuit. Powering on the guilded weapon, the Commissar trusted in the Emperor for it to function properly. Knowing full well the risk in Plasma weaponry, and knowing full well that a malfunction now could very well claim his life. Marcus pulled back on the trigger, and a blue flash of super-heated plasma flew straight and true. Annihilating the two drones that moved to intercept, the plasma bolt struck the battlesuit in the chest. Slumping to the ground, the suit's now-exposed pilot lay gasping for breath as it died.

Since the Battlesuit fled combat, it gave up its turn. The Commissar fired his plasma pistol, rolling a 1 to hit initially. With a reroll from Master Crafting, to hit roll is 4. To wound roll is a 3, causing a wound with no save allowed. Random wound distribution hits Shas'vre, killing shas'vre. Commissar General Marcus Antioch, and Not_the_DM, advance to the Quarterfinals!

Walking staggeredly towards the wrecked suit, a booming voice caused the crystal pyramid to vibrate. Antioch recognized a familiar tone to the voice, and listened intently.

Nicely done, Human. It seems that you live to serve the Throne-Corpse another day. If you ever want to return to real-space again, and get back to your precious Emperor, then I would highly suggest following the only road. And to make it even simpler for you, I've left you shiny things to follow...after all, you humans follow the guidance of a shiny thing daily...

Spitting in disgust at the words of the Daemon, the Commissar turned to see the Pyramid disappearing before his eyes. Meanwhile, the pathway of Crystals was now shining brightly into the distance, cutting a gleaming path through the distant jungle. Determined to smite the lying Daemon in the name of the Emperor, the Commissar nursed his wounds and turned to start out. Passing the downed Tau suit, the Commmissar's boot struck a piece of metal. Looking down, Antioch couldn't help but notice the dagger from the Altar. Thrown away as an attempt to keep the Suit in combat, the Commissar had a shockingly savage idea.

.......

Walking off along the glittering path, Marcus Antioch headed back into the jungle. Highlighted by the fading glow of the Crystaline path, the wrecked Tau Battlesuit sat immobile. The pilot sat strapped into the machine, blood dripping from the corners of its mouth. Sticking out from its chest, straight through the heart, was a dagger hilt.
