We're getting towards the end of what has been a frankly "interesting" year for games with some titles being grand dissapointments, some meeting expectation and some being much better than believed.

I was interested in seeing what people judge to be their game of the year (you can include titles that are due for release before January ofc) and i thought i'd start by saying i think my game of the year is Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I have had many joyous hours playing through the story mode and doing the challenges and i have nearly always found a novel way to do every fight and it's that variance that i think makes it such a strong title.

Blog away peeps :)

Arkham Asylum.
But since it can't be made into a GOTY edition like say, Borderlands could, it probably won't be chosen because there's no profit to be had.

Welcome to the Escapist OP before I even begin. We would have a marching band and parade to welcome you but I lost both.
Of the games currently released I am thinking maybe Prototype, Borderlands, Arkham Asylum, Halo 3: ODST (you knew this was coming), Left FOR Dead 2 and I can't think of any others just yet but if I think of more I will come back.

I don't know if this is really flame bait given that everyone is talking about games they thought were really good and that they liked therefore I can't really understand a spark and debate, maybe this will be one of those threads that brings the internets together.

Remember that this is The Escapist. We don't like other peoples views here.
But I agree with Halo: ODST as well. I just couldn't be bothered to scroll up and edit my post so I quoted this one.

God, I am lazy...

Batman Arkham Asylum.

Haven't played Borderlands or Uncharted 2 yet, and Assassin's Creed 2 has yet to come out so I'll make my final desicion when I play those.

My vote for this year goes to Dragon Age: Origins, but it might change come November 17th when Assassin's Creed 2 is released.

MW2, AC2, Borderlands, and Batman Arkham Asylum will probably be the top picks.

Sorry Uncharted, but exclusives never get GOTY.

I'm going to go with Modern Warfare 2, Assassin's Creed 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Arkham Asylum, and Prototype, they would be my nominees for GOTY. Actually, what I think there should be, is a sequel GOTY, and an original games GOTY. So the hyped up and anticipated games can duke it out, while giving original games a shot at greatness.

Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Assassin's Creed 2 will be the top three in my opinion.

Well ok, they'll be my top three.

Once I'm able to play it I'll be able to confirm Borderlands as a contender.
