Even though we've both read it, me and my Dad both sat up and went OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!

Well that was more horrific than I expected.
When he died in the book it didn't really bother me too much, apart from what it meant for Tyrion. Although as people have said, TV Oberyn was more likeable and had more time to develop as a character so this time around it hit a bit harder, especially considering the sheer brutality of it.

However, I'm really interested in seeing what happens at the Eyrie. Hopefully Arya will pop up for a visit instead of having a good laugh then wandering off to the next funeral/slaughter.

Well, the fight was what I expected it to be. In a good way, mind you. Nasty and gory as you could wish.

But the scenes I loved most this episode were Sansa and Littlefinger in the Eyrie. Is it just me, or is this another step towards getting both of them on more even ground, for Sansa to get the complete upper hand by the end of the story? When reading the books I was kinda bored with everything that happened there, but I really love it now.

Also, Jorah getting booted. Was that in the books? I really don't remember. Such a long time since I last read them. :/

Another thing, the Wildlings... In the books I had some bits of sympathy for them, but right now I just can't wait for them all to get killed. This indiscriminate killing is just ridiculous.

In the books Sansa was younger (13 or so) and really could not project much power so she pretty much just observed Littlefinger and learned from him.

Jorah was exiled in the books but I am not sure when exactly that happened.

The show was more graphic than I expected this episode. Gun-wrenching stuff.

On a side-note, I'm very happy with Rupert Vansittart as Bronze Yohn Royce.

It was brutal and I loved it! Kudos to them for that!

Lesson learned: stfu and finish the frakking job when you have the chance.

My only concern going forward with GoT(Again, haven't read the books) is Walking Dead syndrome. Where you gradually run out of positive elements and likeable characters never get a break. It ends up becoming this oppressive feeling where you don't even want to watch the show(Or in the case of Walking Dead, reading the comic) because there was no one left to care about.
Hopefully that is not the case but we shall see going forward. I certainly wouldn't mind at least one likeable character successfully getting their revenge on one of the asshole characters.

Also one last part about the fight...
Bronn totally could have taken The Mountain judging from what I saw. He was too slow and Oberyn made short work of him by being fast and attacking when he could. Also, Bronn wouldn't have wasted time taunting, he'd have put his sword through Gregor Clegane's face the second he was able to.

But also Bronn fights with a short sword meaning even getting to him meant having to get within the massive reach of the Mountain. Obyren avoids that with his spear fighting allowing him as much reach as the Mountain with out the penalty to speed that a man that size has.

Bronn POSSIBLY could have won, but it would have to count on a lot of things working for Bronn's favor.

This is true, I forgot about the absurd reach that a spear gives. Of course, he would have the Bronn luck in his favor! I swear Bronn is the only person in the show whose fortunes continually get better.

With regards to the above...

Bronn may take it one time in ten, but the odds are certainly against him. We've seen him defeat Ser Vardis Egen one-on-one, but Ser Vardis is not in the Mountain's league.

Robert Baratheon in his prime, Victarion Greyjoy, and maybe the Greatjon would be the best bets someone could hope for against the Mountain.

Also, thank you Critical Miss for telling me that Tyrion dies, without putting up a FUCKING spoiler warning!!! I realize it was to get a punch line, but seriously! (If there actually WAS a spoiler warning, I must have missed it, and in that case I apologize (somewhat)).

EDIT: Also, why do I have to misspell don't in the spoiler warning, so it doesn't mess up the formatting?
And thanks a lot for spoiling it to everyone else who hasn't checked out Critical Miss. Way to complain 'bout something and doing exactly the same!

Having read the books I was expecting it, but part of me hoped it would be something they decided to change - wishful thinking! :p In any case, Pedro Pascal did an EXCELLENT job as Oberyn and gave him so much more personality than the book did (I didn't really care when it happened in the book, apart from what it meant for Tyrion). I'm genuinely sad to see him go.

Read the books years ago. I wasn't surprised by the outcome--obviously--but I was thoroughly pleased by how the show portrayed the duel.

Used manticore poison on his spear.

My apologies, but how long ago is it since you checked Critical Miss? That strip is like 2 months old by now.
