Don't know if "defined" is the right word, but

The Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - Lost Woods

is the first theme I memorized. Well, it's simple and a real earworm.

Nowadays I like and love themes and songs from games I played way earlier, but this one is the first, that stuck in my head as soon as I heard it.

From my childhood? Two games, and the big three from each:

(Yes, I know it's from FFIV, but dammit, I heard it here first!)

While most of what I loved has already been covered (FFVIII, MGS, etc. etc.) I feel this soundtrack still stands out above most in my memory:

I could spend all day on Cosmo Canyon just to hear this over and over again.

Truth be told, half the reason I even played RTSes as a kid was for the kickass soundtracks. Growing up on this synth-and-guitar music made the transition to industrial/heavy metal in my later years absolutely effortless. They're still great to listen to as standalone songs, but even better as game soundtracks in general; I'll frequently mute the music of whatever game I'm playing and play these over it (World of Tanks in particular benefits greatly from this). They're fast and hard-hitting, like the musical equivalent of the Blitzkrieg, which makes them easily one of the best parts of the games I grew up with. I highly recommend giving each one a listen, but if you're pressed for time, any one of the songs below will make my point quite thoroughly.
Tell me your balls didn't just get bigger.

For me it would have to be Rayman 2: The Great Escape. Such a great game, and that soundtrack makes my nut hair stand on end whenever I hear it:

Disappointed no ones mentioned Streets of Rage.

Streets of Rage 2 was great as well.

Like Sonic 1 and 2, thought 3 had good music as well.

Not going to re-post those which have already been posted (Pokémon, Halo:CE, Crash Bandicoot).

Hope you're ready for the nostalgia

For the background sound effects I'm putting this
