There are lots of great plots in games and lots of bad ones too, but how many start out great (even better than great sometimes)then just fall flat on its ass or even start out terrible than improve (greatly) Hear are my choices:

Indigo Prophecy, It was so good, then it just got... weird
Manhunt 2, Hey it haad a good story for a while but again it kinda just went in the oppisite direction, but over all didn't turn out that bad
Metal Gear Solid, it seemed good at first then well... you know...

Condemned 2
I really could have gone without the epilogue in MGS4. Pretty much everything before that, with a few exceptions, was great.

KoTOR 2 - "OK everyone! Lucas says we're done! Let's amputate those plotlines, bandage them up, and shove them out the door."

That must have been a very dispiriting experience.

Condemned 2 gets my call too. I was so hooked on the game but.. The ending was terrible.
Blowing up heads by screaming was kinda cool though.

Assassins Creed......for a total lack of an ending....seemed to me like they hit the brakes, then rolled the credits.

Metal Gear Solid two.

The plot just went whacko even for that series and the chatter with Rose and Raiden drove me insane.

Condemned 2 likewise. I loved the first one, then all the way up 'till i got screaming super powers. I was just so dissapointed by that. I cant even explain it >_<

1. Halo as a series. First was sufficient up until the end in a "Training Day" sort of way. Hero makes it out alive, sigh of relief, roll credits. What should've been a nice little sci-fi romp ended up fail because most of the interesting plot points occur outside of the game.

2. Metal Gear Solid 2: Kojima Fails Film School.

Everyone will say MGS2 but I'm gonna say MGS FOUR - gah, the epilogue sequence, the fan service, I mean, after MGS2 I think Kojima just thought "ok fine people don't give a shit about this anymore so neither do I" - and then comes "Sunny".

Every Resident Evil game. They all start out like some meaningful zombie tale, then end up to be campy sci-fi.

At least Silent Hill games maintain a horror theme throughout.

Despite how much I enjoy Halo (only thanks to online) I have to agree the plot was fairly lacking at times, although I wouldn't say it was a complete wash. Unfortunately Xenogears takes this title for initially creating one of the best plots in RPG history and then trashing all over it.

Final Fantasy VIII could arguably be placed here as the "dramatic" plot twist on disc three was so ridiculously random it served to damage the remainder of the game then actually help it. FFX's plot was great however its sequel butchered it somewhat. FFXII defines this by attempting a new and definitely intriguing political storyline only to forget to develop any of the characters whatsoever; plus FFXII had perhaps the worst main character I have seen since I started playing games. Never before have I despise a MC as much as Vaan. Maybe when I actually bother to get somewhat far in the game my hatred of him will lessen.
