Game recommendation challenge

I've been getting one of my house-mates into gaming though I need more games. Most of what we've been playing has been on an X-box, though we are slowly accumulating gaming computers. What I'm looking for in a recommendation is a game with co-op, preferably something action gamey, though not a military shooter. Any and all ideas are welcome.

Team Fortress 2. Shooter, but with an original style and feel. Plus it's free.

Borderlands for sure. I like playing Halo with the hubby as well. I would definitely recommend castle crashers for a great co op beat-em-up. Hope that helps

 

[King of the Sandbox]

Look up Guardian Heroes on XBL. My wife really loves playing that game with me, it's a blast multiplayer. And really deep too. RPG elements, huge versus mode, multiple paths, characters and endings to unlock.

It's honestly one of the best 2 player games I've found on XBL.
