In your opinion, obviously.

My favorite series is the Metroid Prime trilogy. (Other M is obviously not included). I have the special edition with all 3 games for the Wii and it's great. Although I have to say, 2 was the weakest entry in the series (still very, very good) and I thought 3 was the best. The first one is comfortably in the middle.

They had great controls (I honestly like the Wii-based control scheme they added for the Trilogy pack), tons of lore in a game where nobody talked, and some really fun exploration. I honestly think that with Metroid Prime out of the picture, the only good Nintendo series left is Legend of Zelda.

Zelda CDi was not official from Nintendo

so in that regard Legend of Zelda that's official by Nintendo or a Nintendo partnership like Oracle of Seasons/Ages or Minish Cap
and you must be insane not to like Zelda II, sure it wasn't anywhere as good as the first Zelda or all the other ones that came after it but it was still a good game, hard as hell, yes, but still a really good game once you get over the whole "this isn't the same formula" thing

Well, there is no such thing. Every game series can do wrong and every did it in some way or another. Even game series I love (Half Life, Pokemon, Gothic) did something in some way wrong. Be it a big part of the gameplay (fucking contests), the release schedule (HL3) or just plain and simple a shit sequel (Gothic 3).
Oh great, now you reminded me of Gothic 3.

Metal Gear (Solid). No matter how insane a spinoff is, it'll be accepted because Kojima Productions know how to do their shit (include knowing which companies to hand their series to. I will NEVER forgive Capcom.)

Say what you want about the games, but they appeal to their fans, and that's what's important.

Ratchet and Clank. Those games have never gone wrong and have never gotten old. Jak and Daxter would be right next to it if they didn't come out with that god awful Jak X game.

You forgot Lost Frontier my friend. *shivers*
OT: As others have said there really isn't a game out their that can do no wrong. While I do love the Ratchet and Clank series to death they still did some things wrong. I found Quest for Booty to be too short and a tad boring to be honest. Another instance is that in the old games if you had the best armor it would appear in the cutscenes and you couldn't take it off to see Ratchet's expressions which I always hated when playing in challenge mode. Luckily they sorta fixed that in A Crack in Time.

That sounds a bit self-contradictory.

If you have to omit game from the series in order to say that it has done no wrong then clearly that series has done something wrong.

...

OT: I'm pretty sure I could find a flaw somewhere in any series that I love. Even Portal 2 had some weak bits near the start.

Other M isn't a Prime game.

I was about to say Harvest Moon, but I don't know, I felt a few of the ds games were terrible.

Rune Factory, however, has done no wrong at all. They have just been getting better and better.

The only one I can think of is Halo. There really hasn't been a bad Halo game. All of them are great.

This isn't speaking from a fans point of view. You can pull the "Halo Wars" card but it's not really a bad game, just a decent attempt to get RTS games to consoles. Believe it or not, several thousand people are still playing it.

Thing is, a game series can pass from developer to developer, such that the only guarantee of quality is from the developers. The IP of the series has nothing to do with it.

Take for instance, the Banjo & Kazooie franchise. The N64 games were excellent. Nuts & Bolts for the 360 not so much.

But this isn't because B & J got worse, it's because it's no longer made by the same people. Quality is a reflection of the developers, not the franchise.

Myst came THIS CLOSE to pulling it off.

In fact if we can delete this sequence:

<youtube=pr4pZ6tsONc>

... and this sequence (WARNING: ALL OF THE SPOILERS):

<youtube=xJCpBTwegtM>

...then I'd say the Myst series.

Oh well.

Rayman ALSO came sooooooo cloooose. I still have no idea how they pulled off the ludicrous idea of Rayman 3, but they did. If only we could delete Raving Rabbids from the canon.

Uh... Portal? Left 4 Dead? Though they're really cop-outs on account of being new franchises.

Oh, I know. Elder Scrolls! (Obv. Horse Armor is discounted; DLC is just one of the things that everyone, no matter how good, gets wrong.)

Grand Theft Auto.
Every single game was absolutely fantastic, and let's face it, GTA4 was a terrific game, no matter what sort of activities you were required to to in between missions.
