I don't mind sequels, some are just too good to say "I don't want more because it's cool to hate games with numbers on the ends". If you truly don't like sequels who said you had to buy and play them anyways? Sometimes it's just better to ignore things like this. I could only say that GTA is going in the wrong direction and if they continue doing so, they aren't going to sell many games...

Halo, Final Fantasy, Call of Duty, Gears of War. Four good games which eventually became the four horsemen of the apocalypse in terms of making the 00's a shitty decade for games.

I'm going to say Sonic.

Unleashed was a terrible, terrible game, and I hear there's a sequel in the works.

The EA sports franchises, hell, any sports games. I mean seriously guys, you do not need a game in your game so you can play while you play.

I can guess a majority of these posts will say Halo, COD series, or JRPG's with very little saying the GTA series.

I think Mario, Sonic, and the DOA series need to end.

Yeah, I agree that Mario's been milked for all its worth, along with Sonic. I don't agree with Legend of Zelda, though, because at least all the new games have got different ideas.

Even if the Spirit Tracks is the worst idea I've ever heard.

Fable, Molyneux, Fable II was about as good as you're going to get with this series, and that's still not too good, so just give it up and make another Black and White already.
Agreed we want our creatures and god-powers back. Though I disagree with your comment on Fallout.

Sonic the hedgehog needs to end immediatly.

The Conduit (End this bullshit, before it starts. Too Human falls under this category as well.)

Final Fantasy.

I honestly think threads like these are a bad idea too, because once again they are recepies for flame wars and I am not just saying that because of all the disproportionate hate Halo is getting right now. I say no franchise really needs to die, I mean no one is forcing you to play the games. So why does a franchise deserve to die simply because you don't like it? I personally would like to see an end to the Guitar Hero franchise but at the same time I can still see people having fun with it so who am I to judge? Maybe the game just wasn't made for me and I can respect that. Maybe the game was made to please actual music enthusiasts and I simply don't fit that catergory, does that really mean the franchise deserves to die just because I, a person who is not part of the target audience, do not like it? I don't think so.
Who am I to say my view is 'right' and 'justified' and that anyone who likes the things I don't like is obviously an idiot? Because I do not like it, it is clearly inferior shit and must be removed from the Earth, to hell with the people who like it, that's essentially what is being said here. Because I have noticed threads like these do bring out the self righteous aspect of the human psyche and is in sense the essence of a flame war.

However to be fair I will address the topic, it may surprise some people to know that I am very much in favour of the Halo series drawing to a close. I do not want it drawn to a close because it is 'crap' 'generic' 'overrated' or anything else that joobnook uses to describe it, but rather because I would rather see it end magnificantly then for it to keep on going past its use by date. It is worth noting though that similar to Prince of Persia, Halo's main trilogy has ended and they are now sort of starting a whole new angle of storytelling and game design from a different source so ultimatley I don't really consider that such a bad thing in and of itself but all the same I'd like it to end as a great franchise rather than just keep on going. But at the same time I see all the people excitedly lining up for ODST and I think that if the people want it, let them have it.

One game that I do wish had no continuation though is Bioshock simply because the first was a brilliantly designed classic, a masterpiece with nearly no faults and it juse seems pointless to make a sequel when the entire deep and complex story was finished in the first one with no loose ends. It's like how they make sequels to Night at the Museum... it's not a true contuation.
But if the people like it... let it be.

Halo, Sonic both need to either undergo drastic changes, or die.

Guitar Hero to a lesser extent (my fanboyism is showing here quite nicely) but I still think the amount of games GH is churning out is ridiculous. Do what Rock Band is doing! Release a steady stream of DLC. Yes I'm fully aware of RB the Beatles but that's a odd circumstance given that the Beatles have some copyright difficulties.

Call of Duty. It's just the same thing each time, only reskinned. And i hate those who worship CoD, there's better FPS out there, like Bioshock, Crysis, Resistance: Fall of Man and the Battlefield series.

every EA sports series.
Halo.
Dawn of War. it became shitty the moment DOW2 got on the street. it needs to die unless it goes back to its roots.
Medal of Honor. we need more space for COD.
Shellshocked. look it up on youtube, you WILL regret it.
Sonic, UNLESS they will, for all eternity, make sequels to Project Needlemouse.

Call of Duty is, unlike Battlefield and Medal of Honor, not reskinned everytime. for every game (except WaW) they have used a new engine. also, COD easily stands out of the crowd because of great games like COD4, WaW, COD2 and probably also the upcoming MW2.
