halo, bring on the hate.
You're new here, aren't you? Trust me no one will be jumping to defend Halo on these forums.
[small]Even though I like the series...[/small]

OT: Maybe make less CoD games with better writers is all I can say, other than that I wouldn't get rid of any.

Hmmm.

All of them, Games are just a blight on human history, draining resources away from useful pastimes, like wanking.

In other words? None of them. As long as people still enjoy them, they should continue to exist, regardless of the perceived damage being done to whatever series people want to end. I love games. All games. And hell, if a franchise gets run into the ground, it is a good thing. It means game developers learn.

Pretty much this. It doesn't bother me that games like Black Ops 2 are coming out, I just don't buy them?

I want to see a Pokemon universe kind of thing.

I'm hoping the Call of Duty and Gears of War don't make it to the next console generation.
I'm also tempted to say Halo.

Pretty much every Nintendo franchise. Hell, Nintendo as a whole.

They don't do anything to move the industry forwards, artistically. And their games are just retellings/ rehashes of past games.

I'm gonna say Assassin's Creed. I would've fine with it now that they've finally moved on from Ezio though but if they start making a bunch of sort of sequels starring the new guy...

Final fantasy, just die already.

Here's the thing about saying Final Fantasy should end. Each one is unrelated to the other aside from a couple little elements like moogles and chocobos. My point iFinal Fantasy games are just JRPGs, albeit with bigger production values, and you wouldn't notice the difference if one had the name "Final Fantasy" or not.

I agree with the basic idea that no further game needs another basic bird line (which in terms of story is understandable that there is about always a new one) or another Ratata-esque normal type that no one is ever going to use outside of the story. But sadly, if they are going the same route as they did with Black and White (aka new region and only new Pokes until a certain point) it is understandable that they remade some things that are just basic (like another bloody bat that swarms me whenever I enter a cave). Though I find the typing of Woobat / Swoobat more appealing than Crobat.

It is enough room to argue about the designs in Pokemon, I never wanted to imply that all of them are good, since gen 1 designs were hit or miss with only a few that are widely accepted as good looking.

I also don't disagree with quality over quantity. But I disagree with the implication that this is not the route they are taking right now. Black and White had, in my humble opinion, the best set of Pokes with a wide array of typings to choose from (fire/bug? FUCK YEAH!) with a lot of designs that work especially well in the setting (Yamask in the ruins is just one type of creepy in consideration of its Pokedex entry).

Also, Baltoy and Yamask? They have about nothing in common, not even in terms of design...
The thing is, all this is your opinion. In your opinion the last gen is the best. In my opinion and by several of my friends and a lot of others it is not. You might not see the similarity in design of Baltoy and Yamask, but that's you, not me.

You say it's understandable to remake the basics and I have never said anything against this. It's understandable because they lack the inspiration to make something new. You refer to it as understandable, I refer to it as unnecessary. We got Pidgey and Zubat, we don't need new Pokemon that basically have the same name and look, it just seems like a number game now. Now I am not trying to say that the newest Pokemon games were bad, I loved them. I simply want them to work more on design of the Pokemon and not care about introducing a vast quantity of Pokemon. New starters, possibly new evolutions, a few interesting new wild Pokemon and some legendaries with some sort of story relevance. You claim to have no problem ignoring a series you do not like, try to ignore the fact that some people have opinions you do not like. I am not stating facts, I am stating opinions and so are you.

IMO, make 10000000000000 sequels of whatever you want, If I dont like it, I will ignore it. End of story.

Never undestood the hate towards "milking" a franchine. You know, maybe you can ignore it and let the people who enjoy the games alone? This specially applies to those who complain about sequels SOLELY based on the fact than it is a sequel, even whit the game itself not begin out, or there begin videos of gameplay, or ANYTHING AT ALL.

If you tell me than you hate sequels because you feel than the companies are just in for the money regardless of the quality of the game itself, well thats a bit more understable, but a LOT of people just rage at sequels just because they are sequels...

Lets take COD for example. I like those games, and for me, at least, they can make COD games every single year and I will be fine, if you dont like it then ignore it instead of raging all over the place witch just gives the game free publicity (Well, in COD case its not like it does make that much difference, but my point still gets across). Will I get tired of COD? Maybe. Then I will just move on to other games. THE END.

Excuse the lack of proper grammar, English is not my lenguage.

There's probably more than a few series out there suffering from sequelitis and who really should be allowed to die off. Personally, I can only really think of Final Fantasy. Yes, the series has created many, many fond memories for me and, I'm certain, the rest of the Escapist community, but the series is over the hill. It had a good run, but if the declining quality of the games continues, I'd rather they just stop making them while the memories of the series are still somewhat rosy.

I don't want Final Fantasy to end its illustrious career like Ultima did... Ultima IX... the horror... the horror...

Yeah, guys. Make war, not war.

Anyways, I would agree and say nothing because sometimes sequels come out that are unexpectedly better than their predecessors.
If I HAD to put an end to one, though, it would be CoD, as so many others have said, simply because I wanna see a new, more innovative shooter have the room in the market to take the spotlight for a bit.
Also, agree with the Pokémon thing: new games shouldn't just add new 'mons. I'd like to see a new gen that adds none at all, but switches up the story and gameplay and generally freshens the series up a bit.

I loved the MGS and the God of War Series and I don't want the milking of these series to make it stagnate by drowning us with the same thing over and over again. God of War prequels need to just end. You can only add so much to Kratos' backstory before he killed Ares. Kudos to MGS though for still remaining to be a confusing story rollercoaster while trying to mix up the gameplay with every release.

I like the no frills analogy but lets see once activision tried to kill infinity ward but failed and the studio managed to limp on for mw3 I'd say that series. Sonic because almost every game my friend made me play made me want to kill him with the controller.

Call of duty (Seriously, that game series needed to end after CoD 4...)
Halo (They already said one game was the FINAL one, and yet still another one came out.)
Elder scrolls (Games are awesome, but it needs to make place for something new.)
Pokemon (Or at least, the black/red, gold/silver, etc series. Unless there's some real change/innovation, they need to stop making those.)
Final Fantasy (Imo after 10 it just got worse and worse.)
Mass Effect (Right now they're just at 'We ruined one game of a trilogy'. Let's not make that 'We ruined an entire franchise'. Because with more games, they probably will.)
Both C&C series. As in Red Alert and Tiberian series. (They got all that you could out of those series. And starcraft 2 did it better anyway. I doubt those two can top SC2 really, even with new games.)

Mario, sonic and zelda need to stay. Not because the games are good or anything, but because I want newer generations to also experience them. Well, unless the games become truly, utterly, entirely shitty one after another.

There's no series I'd like to end, just a few that I would prefer to not rule the market. Obviously Call of Duty is a big one here. But in more general terms, I would prefer it if game devs/publishers stopped focusing so much on the multiplayer. Finding good single player games is hard these days. I lack the patience or the dedication/group of dedicated friends for online gaming. So now, when I do play, it's usually Mario games or single player rpg's.

On the other hand, I completely understand that this is business, and they will go where the market is. The market is currently a lot of people with online friends. :(
