Game series you want to see revived, but won't ever happen (probably)

After doing a little bit of nostalgic gaming (GBA, PS2 and XBox), I wondered about the series of games I had played generations before. Looking at the current generation of games, there's not a lot of appeal out there for someone like me. Granted, I mainly like RPGs and some shooters, but I find myself wishing that some of the older games would make a comeback. The Mana series and Breath of Fire are on my personal wishlist, as is Timesplitters.

And since I know I'm usually not unique in this type of thinking, I'd like to ask all who care to respond if there's any old game series, and by "old", I mean at least two gaming generations old, that you'd like to see be revived in the current generation of games. What's on your gaming revival wishlist?

F-Zero.

Nintendo would rather make another Mario Cart game as opposed to giving me something with less luck and more teeth. I played the shit out of GX as a kid...and they haven't made a single F-Zero game since.

Mystical Ninja: In Japan it fell into pachinko hell, but even if it didn't, it was rarely released in the US.

Chromehounds: Don't know if I have SEGA to blame due to being well...weird, or FromSoft too preoccupied with the Souls games. They are more likely to make a new Armored Core than Chromehounds.

I was going to say Dragon Quest Monsters...but they released a new one last month (just checked)...now its just hoping they actually bring it to the US... *hopes*

Jade Empire.

They keep saying they want to make a sequel, but it isn't happening, it seems. And that makes me sad, for Jade Empire was a lot of fun, albeit rather short for an RPG.

Crash Bandicoot, would be great to see it in a capable developers hands.

You do know that Nintendo is looking for a studio to handle their IP right? They tried to pitch Metroid to MercuySteam, but didn't succeed, likely because giving one of their IPs to the guys that ruined Castlevania may not be a good idea. But yeah they want to do it.

For me is a lot of Nintendo characters that are by this point forgotten:
* Startropics, featuring Mike Jones, a baseball player/archeologist that travels from place to place to discover treasures, even traveling to the past to uncover secret mind-control artifacts. So Unchaarted meets Assassin's Creed. But since his series started and ended in the NES and he hasn't been in any Smash game, it's unlikely we will ever see him again.
* Project Hammer, featuring M09, a futuristic hack-and-slash planned for the Wii, but cancelled because it wasn't neither fun nor memorable. It would be good to see this one revived, but since the developers spent millions in CGI for the cutscenes, I think this is a subject Nintendo wants to forget.
* Devil's World, one of Miyamoto's overlooked creations featurin Tamagon, a character that's likely Yoshi's inspiration, going to hell to defeat the Devil in a series of mazes. Do I really need to say why it wouldn't happen today?
* Nintendo's underdeveloped frachises like Ice Climber, Gumshoe, Excitebike, Ballon Fighter, Mole Mania, among others. Story-wise they are overly-simple and gameplay-wise they are good, but with they would need a big update if they were launched today, like Kid Icarus, who showed it could be done.

I know I am going to be alone on this one ... rock and roll racing. I loved two as a kiddie, can't even remember the last good car combat game, there was blur but it didn't seem to do too well.

I think the games had good personalities (bosses taunted you and had unique vehicles, doc voodoo had a pink limo), a nice setting (a post apocalyptic theme), nice vehicles (tank, hover tank, normal looking cars).

I know a fan made project tried to get started but I think it got shut down.

I don't think Nintendo's franchises are dead. I think they've just been put on hold because why spend $10 million on a Metroid Prime game that sells 3 million when you can spend $3 million on a Mario game that sells 10 million.

I think Nintendo returns to them eventually.

Otogi was actually made by the dark souls people so they may revive it for all we know. My fav xbox series by far. It even had dual audio. Games like it is why the first xbox did much better in japan than x1 is right now.

As for my picks, Legend of Dragoon, Grandia, Suikoden, Breath of Fire (not a damn phone game Fapcom!) Monster Rancher, Zone of the Enders (this one really won't ever happen) and Romancing SaGa are a few to go on for now.

From Software is currently milking the Dark Souls cow, but I hope they use some of that money to bring back Otogi. And hopefully, Otogi will play like Otogi (with a lot of enhancements) and not Dark Souls: Japanese Mythology Edition.

Baten Kaitos
How did Baten Kaitos not become the next huge IP?
Because it was released at the worst time possible. It was released in the GameCube, that competed with the PS2, the console that obliterated the Sega Dreamcast, and received games such as Silent Hill 2; add to that its non-existent marketing and you've got another unintentional hidden gem. Maybe if it was revisited during the Wii era, the sales would've been better, but like Nights... Into Dreams, it wasn't meant to be.

Medal of Honor: More specifically, I want to see the conclusion of Pacific Assault's story. Seriously, some of the last lines of the game were

"The road to Tokyo is a long one, and we're only halfway there."
And the last lines literally were "We still have a long way to go." Why in the world did they not release a sequel? They basically told us that was the plan at the end, yet all they did was move on to developing Airborne, and they never looked back.

F-Zero: I'm still a little hopeful for this one. I remember reading an article where it was sort of hinted that perhaps development on a new one would begin once Star Fox releases. Still, with the success of Mario Kart, Miyamoto saying he doesn't understand why we want a sequel, and Miyamoto saying there's nowhere to take the franchise, I'm not holding my breathe on a new one.

Custom Robo: Custom Robo was one of my favorite games on the Gamecube and of all time. I'm still really disappointed we may never see another one again.

Metroid: A proper Metroid game that is. We've had a long break from the series, and all Nintendo is giving us in the near future is Federation Force. And with Retro now working on Donkey Kong, it's looking less and less like we'll see a proper Metroid game.

F.E.A.R.: Then again, after what F3AR (yes, I'm using the stupid spelling because it deserves it) did to the story, I'm not sure I want to see another one.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: I'm pretty sure in this case the creator said they didn't even want to make another one and wouldn't let anyone else do so either. I can understand that, but I still am disappointed we won't see another one.

Baten Kaitos Origins (the prequel) sold poorly because it had an awful marketing strategy. As a result, the series was shelved. It was released in fall of 2006. Keep in mind, the PS3 was launching, the Wii was launching, Xbox 360 had a solid Christmas lineup and Gamecube fans had their attention all set on Twilight Princess.

If BKO had been released in March 2007, it probably would have several times as much. There's less competition in the Spring time, and it would've been hailed as the last major Gamecube title.
