This game is so good!!!! God that crowbar is so satisfying.

Make it happen game devs.
Game devs making it happen. The Kickstarter spiritual successor Road Redemption is currently out on Steam early access.

They're aiming for a PC release of Q2 2016, so looking to come out pretty soon. It's unclear when the console versions will arrive though, the next first platform for Road Rash Redemption will be Windows.

On top of the list is Sacrifice. Though I hear Brutal Legend did copy some of its mechanics.

Seiken Densetsu. I really liked 3's system of a story that changes depending on which 3 of 6 characters you picked, and a whole lot of options in matching your party besides.

Beyond Good & Evil. Like a sadistic kidnapper, I'm pretty sure Ubisoft is just holding the series hostage with no inention of releasing it, periodically sending a ransom note in the form of "If you guys buy whatever game we're making right now, maaaaybe we'll have enough confidence in BG&E2 to start producing it. So cought up!"

Jade Empire.

They keep saying they want to make a sequel, but it isn't happening, it seems. And that makes me sad, for Jade Empire was a lot of fun, albeit rather short for an RPG.
I think it's interesting that Jade Empire would fit bioware's current design philosophy quite well. Well better than say Dragon Age, which was meant to be a spiritual successor to Baldurs Gate. But we have yet to have another Jade Empire game. Ofcourse I would argue that Bioware can't write these days so I think it's a blessing.

OT

While this may sound slightly toll like but I'm going to say..... Metroid.
It's been 8 years and a bit since the last Metroid game and nearly 6 since that last game to bear the title. After that we had 5 years of complete silence untill that... thing which is Federation Force was announced. Ok I understand Federation Force could be good. However as from what we've seen it appears to be such a large departure from the franchise in terms of story, tone and seemingly gameplay, I will declare this franchise dead or in limbo until proven wrong or if FF turns out to be a good metroid game.

Suikoden series please. Still many unanswered questions.

Of course, Konami decided it didn't want to continue living, so there's no way I'll ever see Suikoden VI...
#FucKonami I've only played V, started III and watched a friend play II, but it's a fucking crime what happened to this series.

Then again maybe we should let it lie. If Konami were to bring it back it'd be as a mobile game with microstransactions *Looks at new Contra game*
Oh, I can see it now:

First 54 Star characters are free and in game. The next 50, you need to grind for, hoping you get the right item from an enemy that only appears very rarely, and then you take that item to one of the Stars to get them. Of course, you can pay to increase the enemy spawn rate, but that doesn't increase the drop rate. You'll need to pay for that too, but it only boosts it for one hour.
Oh, and those last 4 Stars? You have to play 108 hours with EACH other Star in order to unlock them--or you can pay for them right now.

And don't even get me started on what I can do with the Runes. You want the top tier of a rune unlocked? Use it in battle a thousand times for each of the other three tiers in order to get an item that you have to take to Jeane and hopefully it will be the right item to unlock the final tier.
That, or--you guessed it--you can pay to have it unlocked now.

Hey, I'm pretty good at this!

Wild Arms, but with the grit turned back to the level the first and third games had or more. I'm not an animephobic like some, but I definitely feel like the 5th and last game had a weaker plot and characters for it.

Secret of Mana, again going back to something closer to the cooperative Zelda format of the best iterations in the series. Maybe online with the ability to summon allied players to aid you a la Dark Souls?

Front Mission. Scars of the War was never released here, and Evolved abandoned the strategic elements completely. Not that I don't like Armoured Core style, but still... no other series did that.

The Lost Vikings. Apparently, Blizzard once cared about these comedy/puzzle games enough to hire Jim freaking Cummings and Gilbert Gottfried to voice the PC version of the sequel. It got references and cameos in Starcraft 2 and World of Warcraft, but no new games since the SNES days.

Hexen. I suppose Dark Souls is close to it in post-apocalyptic medieval atmosphere, but it's not First Person, Hexen is much faster paced, and there are actual safe havens in DS. It really doesn't feel like the same kind of game at all.

Otogi.

It's never going to happen, even though it should have rightly spun off a whole genre.

Phantom Dust: See above.
I feel like original Xbox exclusives in general got unfairly shafted. Other than Otogi there were games like Voodoo Vince, Whacked!, Blinx, Crimson Skies, Mech Assault...Was Phantom Dust the first-person brawler thing where you had a super fist because that's another one that seemed to have been dropped too soon too.

---

Other than those there are a handful of games I'd love to see come back. I'd really like a proper follow-up to Burnout 3 for example and it's weird that Project Gotham Racing vanished. Rocket Knight Adventure was tons of fun as are the Starfy games. I think we deserve a do-over when it comes to Harry Potter part 7 and despite the overwhelming number of Marvel movies, what happened with Marvel console games? We get Lego games every so often but what I'm really craving is a third Ultimate Alliance. Hell, it could be considered a revival of X-Men Legends and be marketed as Avengers vs. X-Men, similar to how the second was modeled after Marvel's Civil War. Geist was a pretty damn great concept that could be improved upon with modern tech, same with Perfect Dark. Then there's Onimusha which I don't think was seen at all since the PS2/Xbox days. I wasn't huge into Onimusha personally but I loved the concept. Most Nintendo fans want new Metroid and F-Zero but I'd love another Wave Race, another Star Tropics and, another Pokemon Snap.

OK, some of my choices were from the current gen but those were from the earliest days of the 360/PS3...Ultimate Alliance, Project Gotham...those were on the 360 but considering the 360 launched nearly a decade ago and those were early entries I'm sure OP can cut me some slack.

edit

Also Hydro Thunder...and Arctic Thunder...and Spyro...and Gex...Adventure Island...Burgertime...Dance Dance Revolution (a proper Japanese one)...Power Stone...NFL Blitz...Legend of Dragoon...Crazy Taxi...Marvel Vs Capcom (or Capcom vs in general)...Zombies Ate my Neighbors...Pokemon TCG...Pokemon Pinball...

MechAssualt got exactly what it deserved - Death and dishonor.

Crimson Skies was pretty neat though.

Whooo boy, there's a bunch there.

Onimusha-Ni Oh comes close, but why not both?

SSI Gold Box Games-RIP SSI.

Air Warrior-Die in Hell, EA. Air Warrior would be great in an age where the biggest flight sims are lobby-based deathmatches with one pilot per plane rather than fully crewed bombers and no persistent maps.

Gladius-Because it would mean more Gladius. Did Lucas Arts just close down without Star Wars to work on? Make freaking Gladius, guys.

Eye of the Beholder-Almost Human are doing great stuff with Legend of Grimrock and Might and Magic tried, at least. I'd still like to see a AAA dev take a shot at first person dungeon crawling today.

Arx Fatalis-and Dark Messiah while we're at it because those were both from Arkane Studios, but they're on the Dishonored train now so it won't happen.

Metal Gear-Not solid, Metal Gear.

Zone of the Enders-This is how I know God doesn't like me, because we have no more Zone of the Enders.

Phantom Dust-The attempts to revive it are vaporware. It won't happen. This is sad.

Jagged Alliance and Fallouts like 1 and 2-where low Int means you're a fucking moron and Jagged Alliance 2 is awesome.

Silent Hunter-Patience is a virtue. No devs seem to think requiring it is a good idea these days. They're right of course, from a sales standpoint but still.

edit- Oni-Stupid Halo being all popular and shit and distracting Bungie.

Dino Crisis-Zombies, no. Raptors, yes. I'm just kidding, I still like zombies so we need both.

Tenchu-If they can get the person who did the guitar soundtrack for the first one.

Three series I'm glad to see returning are River City Ransom, if those guys can pull it off, Underworld Ascendant and The Bard's Tale.

So Unchaarted meets Assassin's Creed. But since his series started and ended in the NES and he hasn't been in any Smash game, it's unlikely we will ever see him again.
My man. I'd add the Guardian Legend from the NES era but it'd be hard to improve upon perfection.

Maybe Mech Assault/Mech Warrior isn't the best series ever...but come on, can you blame me for wanting to blow up cities in a giant fighting robot? I don't feel like I get to do that nearly enough in games.

Mechwarrior was an excellent series that needs to come back (Single Player, as opposed to MWO, which is fine, but not the same).

MechAssault can go rot.

Command and Conquer - obviously, it's in my avatar. My personal favourite RTS series.

Wing Commander - Great Space Sim series with a story that's fun and is effected by how well you perform. Fail is not an automatic game over.

Colony Wars - A PlayStation space Sim I played as a kid, always loved the battle of the League of Free world's vs the Tyrannical Navy. It also had a campaign that changed based on your performance and best of all each game had you play a different faction, see the war from different perspectives.

G-Police - Blade Runner as a police officer flying a Havoc gunship. Loved both of the games and still wish the third had been made.

Just a glimmer of hope: There is rumblings of Ubisoft actually filing new patents on BG&E, not extending existing ones so take that as you will.

OT: Chromehounds. I'd love a sequel to this game so badly.

Many of these have been mentioned, but:

Primal Rage and Darkstalkers: I'd love to see a Darkstalkers with Guilty Gear XRD or Blazblue level graphics, it would just be gorgeous. And I would love Primal Rage sequel. But hey, they brought Killer Instinct back after 2 decades, so you never know...

I'd honestly love to see 3D/HD remakes (or sequels) to lots of the RTS games from the RTS golden era (largely the 1990s and early 2000s). Dark Reign, Krush Kill n' Destroy, Age of Mythology, Ground Control, C&C, Universe at War, Rise of Legends, Dune, War Wind, etc.

Psi-Ops: Holy crap this game was so much fun, and the ending left itself completely on a 'to be continued' note. Tragically I think it won't come to pass.

Knights of the Old Republic; Not an MMO. Or a new game that plays with the same DnD style mechanics with Star Wars themes.

Twisted Metal.

Rock n Roll Racing (Blizzard game before Warcraft). It would be cool to see a combat racer multiplayer online. I'd love if it you could tweak your vehicles with parts and stuff.

Final Fantasy that didn't have super advanced tech futuristic and gunblades nonsense.
In that regards, also a Dynasty Warriors that doesn't have anime influences everywhere.

Paper Mario is in desperate need of revival, since there hasn't been an actual game since Thousand Year Door (though the spin-off on the Wii was also good). Unfortunately, Nintendo would rather turn it into New Paper Mario, completely devoid of soul, because it prints money. Actually, Yoshi's Island is currently sharing a similar undead fate.

Vigilante 8 would be cool, I think, assuming it was made by a competent team (and not whatever fucks ported it to XBA with a bunch of features taken out). The 70s theme, particularly the hyperbolic renditions, is something sorely lacking in gaming, I think. Plus, more vehicular combat is always a plus.

This, so much this. All they would have to do is pitch it as Dungeons and Dragons XCOM. And not mess up the execution of the idea.

Chrono Trigger. One of the best RPGs in the SNES. It has countless ports, but only one sequel (in PS1).

I think this one is best left untouched. There is a reason people don't talk about its sequel, one of the best games ever made, how can its sequel top that? The answer is, it can but it's hard, like really really hard.

Tenchu - best ninja games ever, even with (or possibly because of) the horrible voice acting.

Honourable mentions to side scrolling beat 'em ups (Final Fight) and mech sims.
