Game series you want to see revived, but won't ever happen (probably)

The Jak and Daxter games. A true 4th game would be a blessing. Just hope ND doesn't load it with QTE's and drift far from its core gameplay. Or doesn't do cartoony graphics. I do like QTE's btw, but J&D nor Ratchet or Sly was ever about QTE's.

A Freedom Fighters sequel will be nice. But idk if that will ever happen, since IO Interactive is too busy making other games. And after the debacle of the last Kane and Lynch game. They may just really mess up a potential FF game.

Def Jam Fight for NY was one of the most awesome fighting games I've ever played. Great arena settings with environmental damage. It utilized and promoted MMA way before that became mainstream. Character design was very well done. And it actually had a good selection of rap and hip hop music. Unlike much of the garbage that comes out today from those genres. So I was really dissapointed at the bomb that was Def Jam Icon.

Vigilante 8 would be cool, I think, assuming it was made by a competent team (and not whatever fucks ported it to XBA with a bunch of features taken out). The 70s theme, particularly the hyperbolic renditions, is something sorely lacking in gaming, I think. Plus, more vehicular combat is always a plus.
I loved that game, I'm so glad someone else here would like to see another entry. Had so much fun with that series.

As far as games I'd like that haven't been mentioned, I have two.

I would absolutely love to see a new entry for Freedom Fighters. Had a ton of fun with that game, and I'd love to see this gaming generation have as much fun as I did.

I'd also absolutely love to see a new entry for Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. Probably the absolute most fun I've ever had with a local multiplayer game.

I posted earlier in this thread, but I just thought of another series: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.

For those who never played those games, the two Dark Alliance games were basically Diablo-style games set in the Baldur's Gate setting. I can't say confidently if they were as good as Diablo, having only played bits of Diablo II and III, but I can say that they were a decent amount of fun, and had surprisingly intriguing stories. Sadly, the company responsible for them, Black Isle Studios, shut down a while back, and I have no idea who owns the rights to the Dark Alliance games, if anyone does. Doesn't help that the second game ended on a cliffhanger.

Jade Empire, but made by a studio that actually gives a shit, like Bioware 10 years ago. Bioware today is EA wearing biowares cut off face and pretending to be the real McCoy, even though it's really not working. So yeah.

Also, and I'm probably the only one who cares, a Sequel to The Last Express. Awesome adventure game with some cool ideas and an interesting setting(the journey of the last Orient Express to run prior to the outbreak of WW1), not to mention a lot of unanswered questions left hanging at the end. It's really obvious that they were planning a sequel and then the entire company folded just around the same the game released(which also meant the game got almost no marketing because the marketing department quit/was fired just before the game dropped).

Tenchu - best ninja games ever, even with (or possibly because of) the horrible voice acting.

Honourable mentions to side scrolling beat 'em ups (Final Fight) and mech sims.
Tenchu has a spiritual succesor in Shinobido 2, great game so definitely give it a go. And yeah the voices sucked but the good tenchu like 3 (my fav) let you use the JP ones.

There also was a ps3 double dragon game I believe, very solid.

Never gonna happen, though.

I am glad to see that The Guild III is getting made. Hope it's pretty good.

Probably just me, but another Bulletstorm could be amazing. But, as far as I can tell, they're not getting that creative again for a long time.

Timesplitters would be cool to see resurface, even only as HD remakes.

And, last but not least, Dark Void. Seriously, another even similar game would be great. And if the final boss is the robot-hydra-dragon again, just take my money.

Turok, and that 2008 game does not count.

And I don't mean copy the exact gameplay, I know that gameplay wouldn't necessarily work with the majority of people.

I just mean, make use of the setting again, the lore, the characters, and badass weapons.

Night Dive Studios is doing a great job so far with remastering the original Turok games (can't wait for Turok 2...) so hopefully it will drum up enough interest to spawn a true reboot or sequel.

Monkey Island - I'd love to see Ron Gilbert continue the story.
Lemmings - How is it possible there's not a new version of this amazing game?
Half-Life - Cliffhanger for ever...

Because the company that owns the Lemmings is too busy making millions with GTA to bother with them.

Not just you. From what I've read, Bulletstorm 2 may actually happen. People Can Fly split from their parent company, and apparently went out of their way to take the rights to Bulletstorm with them. So who knows?

Timesplitters... man, that brings back memories. If they could recapture the series charm, that would be great.

Like being able to make your own maps, AI bots and weaponry that borders on criminally insane? *twitches while looking at the Sci-Fi Handgun*

I would like to see a new Monkey Island game if we got the real answer to what happened at the end of MI2(Gilbert knows, but so far he isn't telling. All we know is that the "explanation" we got in Curse wasn't it). Showing us the "missing" game that came before Tales and after Escape would be cool too.

None. We always want more of the great games we've played in the past but part of the reason those games were great experiences is because they were new. It gets old having the same IP and same world and characters explored over and over.

I want Bethesda to do an open world game that isn't set in the Elder Scrolls universe or the Fallout universe. They are a great developer, they could do something really amazing.

I never wanted a new Baldur's Gate, and I wanted a new CRPG in that style. We got Pillars of Eternity and it was magical.

I want new stuff.

MediEvil! Original is a classic, sequels where a bit questionable but good. Dan Fortesque is too good a character to forget. I can imagine it as a Dark Souls, grimdark but full of humor and wit, the perfect contrast.

My game for these lists is always Arcanum: Steamworks and Magic Obscura.

The tech vs. magic element in that game I just thought was genius. You also had the stats effecting NPC interactions like beauty influencing NPC first impressions and intelligence offering more dialogue options, sophistication skills vs. combat skills, etc. This game did things in 1998 that no game has yet to even come close to reproducing and it all took place in a very unique environment of steampunk mixed with high fantasy. While many were captivated by Fallout 2, I hadn't even played it because Arcanum was just mind blowing to me.

Freespace.

The second game was a magnum opus of the genre, and the background was fertile to support sequels, but it was also one of the last games of the genre before its decline, and at this point the property has been split, repackaged and sold into pieces so much that figuring out who has the rights to it is an endeavor as big as making a new game.

The Myth series [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_%28series%29] would be lovely to revisit. I loved the apocalyptic dark fantasy ambience [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lir_iUr7zkc] as well as the single player [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGz289Ljr5Q&list=PL60385DC2CD63054A] and multi-player gameplay [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXcqqOe9caU]. The second installment came packaged with some great modding tools, which allowed for the creation of some good mods, such as this WW2 mod [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfDR5JyeoHk] and many others. Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth 2: Soulblighter were both quite revolutionary games and it's quite the shame that Bungie was bought out by Microsoft to make Halo instead of continuing. Naturally, the physics engine of Halo seems to be a direct linear descendant of that employed in Myth 2 and Myth 1.

With the fairly revolutionary gameplay of Myth (for its time), it's easy to overlook the greatness of the simple visuals and great audio and narration [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77MbpqZew-A] between each of the missions in its single player campaigns. Myths 1 and 2 were extremely well executed. I have nothing but good things to say about them.
