I had a game for the PS1 called Heart of Darkness, a platformer about a kid trying to rescue his pet dog from the darkness realm or something. I never completed it as it was so dam hard and no one i know has ever played/heard of it.
Got a PC demo of that game in a box of cereal. 'twas alright.

Comix Zone was awesome! Another sega game which seems to be pretty forgotten is ESWAT. A sidescrolling shooter, you start as a cop but as you complete missions you get promoted, eventually becomming an ESWAT and donning a big robot-like uniform - this is when the game starts to take off and you get a bunch of new weapons and play through several different looking levels. I loved it as a kid, grew up and forgot the name. I asked around online and found it again, though it's not quite as epic as I remember it (the two first missions are bad, it gets much better after that), I still think it's very cool.

Eswat was actually a far inferior Arcade game first. Fun fact. Learned that the hard way marauding for Roms.

I think the shitty arcade version got ported to SNES.

Right now, Etrian Odyssey 2. Also, cookie for anyone that can remember the name of the GBA launch game that featured a rotating stick that you had to guide through mazes without hitting the walls. I really want to play it again but can't remember the damn name.

Well, there's Metal Storm by Irem, an awesome gravity defining shooter on the NES that was done shortly after R-Type. Nobody remembers it despite it's one of the greatest games of that company and it never got any sequels. A shame.

Karnov, an old sidescroller on the NES. You play as Karnov, this shirtless circus strong-man looking dude who can shoot fireballs. The enemies were really random, like golems and dinosaurs and shit. It was pretty crazy.

And there was some other game, but I can't remember the name of it. You were this little chick, and there was, like, a whale or something I think. Lol, really random, I know.

I have to explain to every person I talk to what "Comix Zone" is. One of the best Sega games, ever, imo.
Seconded, Comix zone was and is the greatest beat-em-up ever made.

Oh Gods yes. Heart Of Darkness is up there with Another World in terms of quality. Fantastic game.

Well if I tell you it then someone else (you fellows) will have heard of it won't they?
Not only that, but any game anyone has heard of had to be made by someone, and I hope the someone or someones who made the game have heard of it.

Conflict:
A midle east political simulator. I played it a lot on my old Atari 1040st. Its a turn based game that puts you in the roll of president of Israel. You could do things like giving the Palestinians a homeland or repress them with violence. I always ended up nuking all the neighboring countries.

Titus the fox to Marrakesh and back:
Also on Atari. Probably one of the most frustrating platformers ever made.

Munchkin:
A shameless Pac-Man ripoff on the Philips Videopack G7000 (or Odyssey2). It was great because you could make your own mazes. I'm still pissed off at my mom for trowing away that console and all the games when I went to college.

Wow yes to whoever said Mystic Ninja and Comix Zone. I just recently played Mystic Ninja again on an emulator, still a fantastic game; hated that they changed it to a sidescroller for the second one though.

Most of the games that I've played that no one has heard of come from the PC. I remember buying some first person Mech shooter game out of the bargain bin in a KB Toys once, that game was awesome. It had free online PvP, but I can't remember what it was called. (It was really freakin' old too, it ran on my 98 computer)

I've also noticed that a lot of people don't remember Vector Man for the Genesis. that game was great.

Back in 2004 Black Sea Studios made a nice little Medieval: Total War-style game called Knights of Honor. Not a great game, but a very good one.

Oh just remembered another: Myth of soma, MMORPG for pc and i swear when ever i mention it people look at me like i have the plague.

It was a fun, easy game and i wanted to give it another go the other day but after downloading it i found that i was the only one in the main city at 19.00 server time.

I now belive i imagined this entire universe but Thousand Year Town was like my second home.
