Game I've enjoyed most, but released in this year?... Nope, none come to mind. Not that they were awful, but I was just too busy playing better games that were released years ago.

I lie, most games this year were pretty boring with a few notable exceptions, like Mass Effect 3. But even then, I only ever played it multiplayer, so...

Thinking through, it's got to be Mass Effect 3. Not really sure what other big games have come out this year actually. Oh, I did play Skyrim finally only a month or so ago and while I loved it and really need to buy it for myself Mass Effect 3 still wins.

Gameplay-wise, Lollipop Chainsaw is the most fun I've had in a game in at least two years.
Story-wise, Mass Effect 3 completely drained me emotionally. What a fantastic game. Shame about the shit ending, but the ride is what's important to me.

Persona 4. Played it for the first time back in April this year, it's now my favourite game of all time. Also Ace Attorney, which I picked up in January. That's now in 2nd place XD

On the online front i'd go for League of Legends and UMVC3. For the awesome Nidalee Spear Snipes (hya! THUNK!) and hilarious Phoenix Wright comebacks (the one who actually commited the crime...) repectively.

Too bad both of their communities suck. Think there's something to be said about the "competitive spirit" of games in general (this probably applies to RL sports as well) it's a bit destructive, unhelpful even sometimes detrimental to your team's performance.

Yes, your team losing you the games sucks but I don't mind it as long as I know I did my best. Raging in the chat is just unhelpful. This is why going Mid Lane is awesome. It's a silent battle of wills between you and this other guy... Until some asshole jungler comes to gank you that is.

Reminds me how I was owning this Brand with AP Twisted Fate (don't quite know how that happened, lol Wild Cards) and he goes all Man Mode and challenges me to a 1v1 (1v1s are meaningless btw.) I tactfully remind him that Mid is a 1v1 so trololololol.

1v1s are going to be won by who has the most life steal/health anyway. Mundo wins all 1v1s.

Oh and anyone who post match taunts in UMVC3 is dead to me. I instaleave just so I don't give him the win. I don't care about my rank I just want to have fun... Fuck your Wesker. DX

Skyrim, I've played it so much this year. My main character has more than 64 hours play time. When Dawnguard comes out on Tuesday that time will increase scientifically.

Its been a very underwhelming year for games so far. Most of the things I've been playing came out last year. ME3 and Amalur were the best contenders but they both turned out to be kinda meh. The Darkness 2 was good. I'm gonna preemptively say The Witcher 2 wins even though I haven't played it cos I like the 1st one but it needed some improvements and everyone says they made them.

I'm playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent (got it just a couple of weeks ago win the Humble Bundle). I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it...I have to stop like every 10-20 minutes and calm myself down. But I keep going back so I guess that means there's something there. I also really enjoyed Bastion.

I think Mass Effect 3 is the only game released in 2012 that I've bought thus far, so it wins by default. After a slow start, it was quite enjoyable though, ending aside, so I don't feel bad giving it the honour.

As for games I've played for the first time this year, well that's pretty much an impossible choice to make with such greats as Arcanum: of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Syberia, Sacrifice, Syndicate (the original), Ground Control, Fallout: Tactics, Mount & Blade: Wardband and X-COM: UFO Defense on the list.

Mass Effect 3 was some of the most fun I've ever had with a game.
I'm right there with you. I'd have to say that series is my all-time favorite, seeing how many hours I've put into those games.

Mass Effect 3 and Dragon's dogma.

ME3's ending SUCKED (as everyone knows) but was otherwise an incredibly awesome experience with lot's of emotions in the missions where you meet your old team mates. (Doing another rerun through 2 and 3, full paragon, to get everything exactly as I want. But unless that free dlc comes out before I get to the end, I'll probably just walk out and do something else for a bit during the final cutscenes.)

Dragon's dogma's 'no quick travel' gets really annoying when you have bad luck and die from a bandit after not saving for 20 minutes. And your pawns NEVER SHUTTING UP can even take me out of the immersion at times, but once again...looking past those two things it's incredibly awesome to play. The combat especially, is the best combat I've seen in an RPG in many years. (Still on my first play through. I restarted entirely like 3 times already because my character wasn't exactly the way I wanted her to be.)

It looks like I am contributing to the slow sale of video games this year. The only new game I bought that was released this year was Fez. I am enjoying that, but I won't go so far as to say that it is my favorite game.

I rented Mass Effect 3 to play it and found that it was ok. I think my heart just wasn't in it after reading the craziness that surrounded the game's ending.

If I can fudge the rule a bit, Batman Arkham City: Game of the Year did get released in May, so I'll count that as my favorite.

Not counting iOS titles, I've only bought 4 games so far this year (Devil Survivor 2, PokePark 2, Skullgirls, and Pokemon Conquest) and of those 4 titles, I would say that PokePark 2 is the one I probably enjoyed the most.

If we ARE counting iOS games, I got to be a beta tester for the game Squids Wild West (available next week, check it out, and don't forget to check out Squids, already out now) and I absolutely loved that game. It was a delightful mix of story, gameplay, characters, fun and just plain addictiveness.

I must say that it has to be Borderlands. Yes, I'm late to the party but it was still an awesome time sink.

For games released this year I would have to say that I really like Lollipop Chainsaw. A stupid crass game to be sure but a lot of fun.

ME3 and this indie game I started playing the demo for called X-Note, it's a point and click and is rather text heavy, but its fun to pass time.

Xenoblade Chronicles stole 80 hours of my life, and I have no shame in it.

And then Journey of course. My game of the year so far (Xenoblade I guess doesn't count because it came out earlier to most of the world), though let's see if Sly 4 knocks it down.

This is probably cheating, but the re-release of Pikmin 2 has had my attention recently. I didn't own a Gamecube when this game originally came out so I've been experiencing it for the first time. And I really like it. It's a whole new take on the RTS genre, and I've already dumped several hours into this thing.
