Trying not to sound mean but I'm really getting tired of feminism/zoe/anita/SJW stuff jamming up the gaming section.
Basically, there's a bit of a shitstorm going on.
Short version; Zoe Quinn, indie developer, cheated on her boyfriends with five guys, three of whom were game journalists who gave her positive publicity for her game Depression Quest. This in and of itself would be a minor thing, but savvy internet sleuths dug up more dirt that implicated Quinn in some rather unsavory behavior, namely sexual harassment and the destruction of the Fine Young Capitalists pro-woman game jam. That previous incident was not reported in the mainstream press because of connections Quinn had with that press. Eventually this thing ballooned into a push for transparency and an end to the corruption of games journalism, mostly because major site have been viciously censoring and shutting down all conversation about this issue, which is just making people talk about it even more. As for Sarkeesian? Well, it turns out that she's part of a PR company that is working with the major game sites, who all simultaneously shat out article after article of how gamers suck. Hell, Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb, Kal'Reeger, THAT Adam Baldwin) of all people tore the journos a new asshole on twitter.
It's like if the Clinton Sex Scandal revealed that the Illuminati had infiltrated the government and was waging clandestine war with the Free Masons.
Because of all the rampant censorship, people who want to talk about are fleeing to the one of the fee places who haven't gone all Soviet Russia on us, The Escapist.
