I didn't know my girlfriend was a gamer, she never mentioned it. So one day i had to stop by work to speak to the boss. When I got home my girlfriend had been sitting there, playing Red Dead Redemption (Not properly though, Just riding horses and hunting animals, but still.) And wouldn't for the love of god give me my controller, That was awesome. (Did I mention she is a better shot than I?)

I've had two gamer girlfriends and they were great fun. Still friends with both of them.

So, the question for me would be if I wanted to date another gamer girl?

Gamer girl or guy, doesn't matter. A gamer of either gender is something I'd want, yes.

I wonder when topics about female gamers will end? I don't really get what the fuss is about but maybe that's just me. Both me and my boyfriend play games a lot and I've enjoyed games now for about 19 years and don't intend to stop - I hope to be a little old gaming granny one day.

I'll flip it though to "gamer boyfriends" and I am happy me and my boyfriend share our hobby together. It means there's always something to do ranging from games like Borderlands to Little Big Planet. So many choices of experiences, it's one of my reasons I love my games so. <3

Cant relate to that. My girlfriend and I play together all the time. Halo: Reach, COD:MW2, WoW. Sorry man, my heart goes out to you.

Heh, I'm having a lot of fun trying to get my girlfriend into some games. Although she's already pretty much sorted for the PC; she can play some fantastic games of Total War. She doesn't play consoles, though I'm slowly working on that. ;;D Muchly fun.

Currently single, although extremely interested in a girl who's an avid gamer. I'll admit that it's /part/ of what attracted me to her but the more we talk the higher our compatibility seems to be. Many shared interests and the differences between us all seem to be complimentary, so I'm looking forward to seeing just how far things can go. Even if she weren't a gamer I don't think I'd be dissuaded from wanting to get to know her better. Gaming is a hobby, and everyone has different hobbies. There are more important factors in a relationship than that for me.

My girlfriend steals my PC to play Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead 2... the jerk.
I would have just said "this" but in fear of submitting a low content post...

My girl friend is also better at me then the above mentioned games.
My girlfriend started getting a little lippy about being better than me at those games, so I took it a little personally, and bought her a gaming laptop, installed Steam, gifted her TF2 and handed her her pretty little butt. Loser.

If I can find a few games that me and my girl can play together I'd be set. Doesn't even matter what games they are.

I've rarely met one. Actually, when I do meet them, they tend to be assholes, but that's just my own experiences on the subject. I'm not a particular fan of women in general, and they, by virtue of my rather obscure intellectual interests, are not typically a fan of me.
Or it could be the misogyny.

You know, there's that.

Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of FPSs. I like RPGs and the like so if there isn't an interesting story, I tend to get bored. The down side to those games is you usually can't play with someone else, so we'd probably have to fight over the controller.
If you're looking for adventure rpg'ish games to play with your friend or your hypothetical boyfriend, I'd suggest you look into "Hunted: The Demon's Forge" or Alternatively "Guild Wars" (the ladder is technically an MMO, but is focused more on the story and co-op aspects). Both RPG's and both feature co-op opportunity.

This made me interested in creating a thread about female gamers vs male gamers...

I would assume that the differences between a female vs. male gamer with the same experience would be negligible/non-existent.

Mine is a damn good gamer. And oddly enough, she's more into FPS's than I am!

Her favorite activity is playing Zombies on Blops, though she also enjoys a lot of fantasy games, for LoTR is her favorite thing EVAR.

*Sniff*

Love that girl...

I'd love my girlfriend to be a gamer.
She's had one attempt at CoD:WaW zombies and found it fun, which is good.

Only thing is she's been negatively influenced about games by her douchebag older brother. He's a lazy selfish git and she's blamed games for this. Sadface.

Yes, I have played Guild Wars and it is quite fun. I really should get back to it, especially since it doesn't have a monthly fee. I was a bit worried about Hunted: The Demon's Forge. It looks more actiony than plot based, but if it's got a good plot than I'll certainly give it a shot!

We did the same, execpt we went to a friends house which has two gaming computers. She played her class, sniper, and I chose random...

Spy came up, with the polycount set with the dead ringer.

I won... it was glorious, she didn't get to kill me.

My significant other has played RPGs since Baulder's Gate.

Her favorite console game is Fable II&III - she played Fable II over and over and over and over and over and over and over....and over.

She's started playing WoW again with the launch of Cataclysm with me, as a goblin priest, and we finally were running a dungeon (more for a quest item than to run a dungeon...she's not big on grouping with other people) and the healer DC'd. So the tank asked her if she'd heal, and she did with some trepidation.

She absolutely loved it. She's played a hunter on and off since TBC launched, but now she is all about running dungeons (I've since leveled up a tank to the early 20s so we can complement one another better), and is asking me to hop on so she has a tank to heal - it's quite fun, but if she wasn't a gamer that'd be A.O.K. with me too. Gaming is a wonderful shared hobby, but there's so much more to a healthy relationship.
