Source: [link]http://www.dailydot.com/geek/new-gamer-girls-geek-lad-mag-porn/[/link]

Slightly NSFW. Nothing hardcore, but y'know, standard lads mag stuff.

Yes revel in the glory of this hideous irreverant, irrelevant magazine. Featuring such marvels as: A girl using her sex powers to enable her to play Halo 1, for the orginal xbox, with a ps2 controller that's had it's wire cut off to make it resemble a wireless pad. A woman on the front page who's clearly had glasses photoshopped onto her face, and thinly veiled racism as you gaze upon the beauty from the mysterious east, the " "Exotic" Chyna Doll" ", who totally didn't steal her name from a much more famous pornstar.

Beyond the complete dodginess of it's existance, I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for. The guys who came up with the idea, the publishers for agreeing to it, the girls in the magazine(though it is their job), or us for them thinking this is something the "Geek" audience was actually clamouring for.

I mean not only could you easily find this stuff on google, there's plenty of genuine "Gamer Girls" on the interwebs who do this sort of thing, of much higher quality, and you could probably actually have a proper conversation about games with them.

Heck, I'm not even sure who this is for in the first place. I mean the internet exists for porn. Not only that, even Lads mags like FHM, Nuts or Zoo have more to them than babes and they at least arn't trying to put on a ruse so hackneyed it would make Stan Lee blush.

Oh.

...

Poor naive little me saw the thread title and thought it was going to be about a magazine aimed at girls who played games. I was anticipating yet another gender debate about representation and all that jazz. (EDIT: And now you changed the thread title to something more sensationalist and attention grabbing. and people will wonder how I made that mistake. When I clicked on it it just said "Gamer Girls Magazine".)

Heh. In before it becomes a huge success. Remember that one company that was selling a service where you could talk to a girl over Xbox Live while you play games? Remember how everyone laughed at it? Remember how when the service launched they were flooded with more customers than they could keep up with? Never underestimate the profitability of the lonely nerd.

Incidentally, that is one damn fine bow tie. I'm just sayin'.

Aaand here's hoping this magazine won't be in stores for long.

Yep, I'm pretty sure this is the most insulting thing towards female gamers I've ever seen.

[small]Also, would you mind putting that magazine cover in spoiler tags? Like, Jesus Christ.[/small]

Yeah a magazine for girl gamers would be great. Mind you it'd be nice if that wasn't necessary in the first place, but gender polotics in the gaming sphere are still incredibly knee jerky. Yeah changed the thread title, can't do journalism without sensationalist titles! What can I say, thread views are nice and I hope the mag tanks, I did want people to see this rubbish for how bad it is, but on the flip side I guess all publicity is good publicity too.

Ah yes, I do remember that, though I'd say that was slightly different on the basis of you getting human contact, this is is...this is just really painful to read wank-bait. ><

Likewise >.<

OT: I clicked the first link and... ye gods, this is just grim.

As a "girl gamer" [small]and a feminist[/small] (and, incidentally, someone who "read" her share of ladsmags as a horny teenager), I'm not so much insulted by this as disappointed. The whole thing is immensely trashy. I actually believe glamour modelling has its place, but really this is just cringeworthy. And yeah, I have no idea who this is even for.

I thought it was a mag FOR girl gamers too

this however is just strange. I like nuts and zoo (usually when im waiting for an MOT at a garage) as much as the next person however ive never understood why they put half naked girls in unrelated magazine. Magazines such as fast bike and max power do this and ive never understood why. This magazine has taken it to the next level though

I feel for bad that people will actually buy this shit

This is totally fake, right? ... Right?

I just don't understand this at all.

Seriously that was a thing? Wow.

I really do not get this at all. Like, this weird fetishism of girl gamers I hear people talking about has absolutely no correlation to the actual experience of being a female gamer so I'm just like ????????????????.

It's hard for me to get worked up about this, because my brain has yet to comprehend that this is an actual thing. That someone really made this with a straight face and thought to themselves "this'll get them horny boys to buy mah magaziunn". Saying this is the lowest form of stereotypical trash is a staggering understatement. I hope the douche who decided to do this gets called out on this bullshit.

Whoever was in charge of that outfit, hates women. It's a mess. I get that they were going for a shot where the model is half out of her one-piece, but it's got too many things going on. She has to hold the controller like she's playing it, while displaying the Xbox logo. She can't use her hands to keep everything PG-13, so they decided to use suspenders?

Ugh.

Just, the model looks like she's wearing enormous underwear and the steel clip-on suspenders aren't sexy. Plain steel clamps don't look good. How does a person mess that up? The one-piece sits too high, so the model's torso looks compacted. I don't even know whats going on with her right arm. It's weird. The outside has poor lighting and her boob is covering the inside, so it's got a really disconcerting vibe. Also, the "I 'heart' Geeks" stickers makes the entire outfit look grubby.

And the background, glasses... Whatever.

The model is clearly a very attractive woman. Someone messed up.

Oh yeah, it was thing. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.182803-Gamecrush-Pay-To-Play-With-Gamer-Grills-NSFW] $8.25/10min, available in your choice of 'flirty' or 'dirty' flavours.

I just checked and their website is still up, so I guess it still is a thing.

I really do not get this at all. Like, this weird fetishism of girl gamers I hear people talking about has absolutely no correlation to the actual experience of being a female gamer so I'm just like ????????????????.
You mean to say you never loll about in your underwear making pouty faces and balancing a controller on your breasts? Like... never? Not even once?

Well, consider me heartbroken.

Seriously though, I'd guess that the heart of the matter is just the idea of someone, specifically a hot female someone, who shares your interests. Let's face it, gaming has its fair share of dudes who don't have much else in their lives. So the notion of a cute girl who likes the one thing you like is bound to have some traction.

Oh yes, I am pretty much exclusively into nerd guys, so I certainly understand the attraction to people who share your interests. What I don't understand is how there is sort of this divide... where you have on the one hand fetishism of (often manufactured) images featuring female gamers and then on the other hand a backlash towards them and many women who play games as `fake`.

Like it seems it's always `OMG BONER` or `RAGERAGERAGE`.

Seconded :D

I don't know if anyone recalls this movie but have people seen "Road Trip" [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0215129/?ref_=nv_sr_1] here? There is a scene with Tom Green where he is telling a story to a group of college kids and he gets to a "Shower Scene" in his story. His shower scene involves all of the ladies talking like normal but they're all just standing around naked in the locker room. I'd link it but I'm pretty sure that's considered against the rules (and I can't find the scene in question) and so here is my recreation:

Student on Tour stops Tom Green during his story:
Student: "You know girls just don't walk around naked in the shower rooms, right?"
Green: "Yeah they totally do. Now it's my story so pay attention"
Green: "Now there were this other naked girls. They were naked...like...REALLY naked"

I imagine the photographer may have also been Tom Green...

OT: Anyone here aware of FHM? Basically it's a softcore porn magazine (though it might be online only now, I don't know if a real magazine still exists) for guys who want something to smack it around to but for some reason don't realize the internet exists and are too embarrassed to just buy a porno (even though everyone in the line knows EXACTLY why you're buying FHM for it sure as hell isn't for the movie reviews...).

This looks like the exact same thing except instead of "Pop Culture" articles for FHM, it's "Gaming Articles". Same magazine; different skin.

Weeeeell... you have the thing and you have the backlash against the thing. Can't have the latter without the former. That seems pretty straightforward to me.

I, uh, may be misunderstanding what you're trying to say.

I think what I was trying to say is that I understand wanting someone who has the same hobbies as you but idealising and/or demonising manufactured images just serves to fracture us and make the gaming community seem freaky to actual ladies who could be playing games and then increasing actual chances of getting the thing you want instead of a picture of it?

I don't know. I had a point originally but this whole topic makes me haz a confuse.
Lets all just be nice to each other (and quietly pretend this stuff doesn't exist).

Thinly veiled racism? What do you mean, "thinly veiled"?

Also, I tried reading it and it was cringeworthy. I'd hoenstly pay not to have to read it.

Have you ever seen a magazine in stores? They are ALL like this. Why should this be any different from.

" 10 ways to make you sex life more enriched"
" what men Really think about women"
" how to snag the perfect guy"
" 10 reasons he's just not into you"

Etc...

Hey i'd buy it. If you are going to go balls out, then do it. I can at least respect that.

LOL well just to jump in I have gamed in my underwear before. But it was in the dead of summer and underwear felt cooler. I'm pretty sure dudes game in their boxers for similar reasons. And if any pouting went on on it was probably because it was the umpteenth time a boss kicked my ass and I'm trying not to cry. So I just really don't see where the fetishization comes from. Like anyone gaming in their underwear is so not going to as sexy as a model doing it. Its just gonna look sloppy. There is bound to be messy hair and food stains stains involved.

To the OP:
I really hope that is a fake magazine because it's really pathetic. But if not they could at least do a better job with the cover. It just looks horrible.
