I'm a guitarist, just like nearly everyone else who's posted so far. I'd like to be a vocalist as well, but sadly, my voice isn't exactly tailor-made for singing (a bit too gravelly, and not in the good way).

I play bass mainly and love me some AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden and Crush 40. I can also play guitar, a little piano and can almost sing.

I am a vocalist and a bassist. I can play other instruments, but none to the standard I can do these two.

Going to be taking the BTEC National Diploma in Music course at college next year. :)
Im starting that course in september! A bit late at 21, but it means the course is easier for me as ive had more experience playing.

I've played piano since I was 8 and guitar since i was 17, piano is to a concert pianist standard and guitar I play very well as i spend an almost obscene amount of time practising :p.
Though i've only just over the last couple months got over the self-deprecating thinking im shit thing (low self esteem).

Anyone else had that? A sort of depressing phase of thinking your terrible (and not being).

It took ridiculous amounts of "you're fucking awesome!" by people for me to actually acknowledge it. Only doing so once I was drafted in by a friend of a friend to play for a semi-pro band whose guitarist had broken his hand :p.

Ooooh! Me, me, pick me!!!

Ahem, what I am trying to say is that I play piano, microphone (see what I did there! My humor knows no bounds! *coughs violently*), guitar, bass, drums and some harmonica. Though mostly piano and singing. And I play pretty much anyting that involves, well... anything. I've played pop-jazz, blues, country, rock n' roll, alternative rock, piano rock, hard rock, and some lighter degrees of metal.

So, this might have been done before, but how many gamers on the Escapist here also play music? What instrument(s) do you play? What type of music?
Any instrument that doesn't require one to breathe into it to produce a sound, I can play.

I play whatever type of music I feel like, that could mean anything.

I also work in the music industry - woo.
Rockin' the Theremin eh BansaiK?
Yes. I have a hand-built valve theremin in my house that a friend built for me using the RCA schematic from 1947, unfortunately it's a bit ropey for performances so when I've used theremin onstage I've always borrowed one of the newer transistor based Moog ones which are a lot more reliable, if a little less cool-looking.

I'm a percussionist. I play African drums, Samba and Drum kit among other things. I'm currently teaching myself some tunes of the xylophone.

Don't worry you're not the first one to doubt me on what I'm sure appears like a fairly ridiculous claim. Incidentally, I highly recommend Lydia Kavina's "Mastering The Theremin" DVD as the definitive learning resource.

I play guitar, bass and drums...Badly Of the three I was best at drumming, but found it difficult to practice often enough due to the noise levels generated by playing.

I can also sing exceptionally well, but I'm not comfortable doing so in front of others for some odd reason.
