I'm an avid PC gamer, and I love playing Dark Souls on my PS3, but this is one time I will admit that porting this to PC is not a good idea. It purely feels like a console game through and through. PLUS, as the end of the article says, the last time they tried to port something to PC, it turned out to be a terrible port. Do you think people will be impressed if they give the same treatment to this game on PC?
Last time they ported something it was an already terrible game. Probably ported quickly to make up for lackluster console sales. Totally different situatiion.

Asia does not like PC gamers
Japan is not Asia.

Just take one look at Seoul South Korea, which is the Mecca of PC gaming.
Japan is not Asia?
what?
What grade are you in?
I think he meant state of PC gaming in Japan =/= PC gaming in all of asia. He's actually quite right.
Exactly, he is quite right. he is commenting on the fact that Japan does not repesent the whole of Asia. Asia is a big place, buddy. The largest continental mass on Earth, I believe. It's made up of many countries. Japan is just "one" of them, not the only one.

Uhhhh, mods are optional, like, all the time.

I can't understand your thinking here. Mods are always a PLUS, since modders generally put out some REALLY great stuff and expand the lifetime of any given game.
And how would you keep a permanently online game fair and balanced? A game like Dark Souls, where people can join another's game easily to either help or attack one another, is impractical with mods in and of itself.

You could have modder A have both the Sword of Infinity + 1 and Armor of Invulnerability thanks to modding, who joins into non-modder games and continuously attacks and kills the player. How will you keep Modders and Non-Modders separate, so Modders don't grief and ruin the experience from non-modders?

Y'know, as much as I adore this game (self-admitted fanboy, even), I don't think it would fit as well as people think,
Hold on a second while I fetch a video that explains why I think it will fit perfectly.

It goes onto the whole fact that the people demanding the game have made and done things to games and make them harder then a box of brick nails.

That picture just made my day. I thank you good sir/madame.

OT: I am a little torn on this, Yeah Dark Souls is a great game and all but I can't see it's control shceme on a PC work as well without a controller.

Still I would buy it again if it would get a PC port.

I have no problems with porting stuff but...honestly, I would only ever play a "Souls" game on a PC with a gamepad. The game was built heavily around dual-analog sticks and mouse/keyboard would be incredibly cumbersome and hard to implement for this kind of game.

Of course, this is From Software were talking about, they will never port it to PC. Only game they ever ported to PC was the very first King's Field, and that PC release was sold primarily as a level creator software. Also it was only in Japan and it was long long time ago in the mid to late 90s.

As I have stated before, if it has Mods, I won't buy it. If it doesn't, I will buy it again to play it on my laptop.
How does the game being moddable (when you download the game, it will certainly be vanilla) effect how you play the game vanilla? Just don't download any mods??? Mods are for people who want them, if you don't want any mods, you don't have to install any (and you always have to go out of your way to get them).

Also, I think the furthest extent for modding this game for the majority would be graphical mods or maybe a refining for mouse and keyboard control (if necessary). It's not exactly a big game so I doubt there will be anything going wrong. But the game looks great on vanilla. Any massively game changing mods would either be for (and this would definately be only doable offline) veteran players/people who are buying the game a 2nd time for the PC.

But I don't think anyone could complain about the game not being moddable personally (it can only be seen as a plus if it can though) due to the fact the way the game is designed doesn't really warrant any mods, compared to say an elder scrolls game, which could potentially warrant massive changes for people to want to keep playing the game in a different light.

EDIT: There's no difference between offline and online play? Do you need to be online to play the game? Oh well even then there are mods for console ports anyways, but they are minor tweaks at best (MW3's FOV mod comes to mind).
To elaborate, Dark Souls and it's predecessor do not require an online connection in any way to play the game. The online in Dark Souls is strictly for multiplayer content, which is integrated into the offline play mode.

Being online for Dark Souls means you get to summon other people to help with bosses (or be invaded by them), you get to partake in the Covenants system (there are a few with some Entry level rewards, but without players to help/kill, advancing through a covenant's ranks is nearly impossible), and you get to leave hints/read hints. Also blood stains.

That's it. It's entirely possible to play the game offline and just go from point A to point B killing monsters and eventually bosses. But why settle with playing half the game?

Hell, yeah, all for it. I love punishing gameplay and I'm sure I would grind my way through a game like that. Only thing I disagree with the petition on is Steam. Hate it. I'd hope that there'd be a separat way to implement the game, at least optionally.

I can tell you right now: Not going to happen. Nor should it.

Dark Souls is a console game, period. Playing it on PC would be like attempting to play Skyrim on consoles. It doesn't work for a multitude of reasons.
The Overlord games are clearly primarily console games and I bought both of 'em for the PC. Had great fun playing them, too. I really don't get your point, especially considering I can simply use a console-like gamecontroller.

Well if the development team still exist (some companies lay these guys off after a job) then they might get on that. Assuming they didn't avoid the PC for a good reason, like wanting to avoid PC pirates. Of course there not under any obligation to give a crap about a whinny gamers on the internet and its there own decision as to how many people constitute a potential profit that is "worth it".

What exactly is the point of that? One of the advantages of a PC is being able to freely set your keys, why did they produce some sort of proposal for possible key bindings? Plus, if I decide to use a controller, the keyboard and mouse setup don't matter too much, anyway; I can simply mimic the console setup. Are key bindings really a concern and possible reason to deny a port for developers? Because if that's the case, then it just confuses me as to why.

Fuck Dark Souls. RED DEAD REDEMPTION. So much goddamn want for that. However, should we be victorious in a PC port of Dark Souls I will buy it just to bolster it's sales to hopefully give Rockstar an incentive to port this fabulous game! Who knows, I might even like Dark Souls.

There are plenty of console and system exclusives and of all of them, Dark Souls is the one that gets a petition?
If this actually works I'm going to be making a couple dozen petitions....
Also, 30 thousand is nothing. That isn't nearly enough sales to warrant a PC port.
