Ever heard of gamers logic? Dont know what gamers logic is? An example of Gamers Logic:

''Hm... im supposed to go to the right, thats why i go to the left first!''

Is this how you think, or do you just run through the levels doing your missions? Gamers logic is wonderful, and gives you many presents. A perfect example is Bioshock, best game for gamers logic.

How so?

I usually use that kind of thinking to determine what the enemy AI is going to do next, they are so predictable.

You mean to say that Gamer's Logic is defying a set of instructed rules/commands, potentially for your own gain or perhaps just to feel superior to the game designers?

('Defying' doesn't seem spelt right to me. Correct me if I'm wrong.)

I use this supposed 'Gamer Logic' in games all the time and it's a trait 'Completionists' have because of there determination to get 100%.

Ah, the sequence breaker impulse. Yeah, I use it all the time during exploration. You find some cool stuff that way!

You spelled "defying" correctly. Something else, however... ^_^

I always thought gamers' logic was the experience we gained through playing video games that have made us naturally fit to figure out situations in games. Not sure how to describe it better but yeah I can't remember any examples.

The only use of gamers knowledge I've seen is the ability to sense boss battles. "Hmmm, for some reason the AI spawned in 300 bullets for my best gun. I got a feeling the shit is about to hit the fan."

Well, in real life when you come across a locked door, I imagine you don't kill everything in the room, push everything in the room, hit everything in the room, and if that fails look for the key in other rooms.

Logic! Okay...let's have some fun.

Let's see, I'm definitely guilty of the "Let's explore instead of further the plot!" one and the "Uh oh, sudden gobs of health and ammo mean trouble." one. But what else have I done?

{1} "My enemies are firing projectiles I can easily see. This means I can just sidestep 'em like a wiseass and shoot 'em up."

{2} "My opponents can never win a Bomberman game against me. Some of them kill themselves before I get power-ups."

{3} "Dodge is better than block, because you'll ALWAYS be thinking of moving and HARDLY ever thinking of the block button."

{4} "All FPSs are common at the core. You see them, they see you. Shoot them first, and remember to strafe."

{5} "Bosses don't necessarily have an obvious weakness. They're only obvious to those who know where the hell to look. The rest is luck."

I always go left if the game tells me to go right. Mainly because I play games that are one of three things

1. Games with TONS of secrets (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

2. Freeroam games, such as Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Morrowind. (Bethesda own, ok? <.<)

3. Baldur's Gate. I've learnt that ive I follow the way I should go I end up standing on a trap and half my party explodes.

Most popular bit of "Gamer's Logic," as determined by the most common logical fallacy to find in games?

"I can screw up all I like. I'll just hit QuickLoad."

Of course, if the guy behind him is also a gamer, he's reaching for the rocket launcher button.

I thought gamers logic was to shoot everyone and break anything that may contain any for of item/valuable in it.

Yeah, that's usually how I do things. Of course some games suck at letting me know which is which (thus leading me to the end when I wanted to explore a bit), but in a game designed to reward exploration, it's always a good idea to take the optional path first.

Gamer's Logic is the ability to identify bad levels before they begin.

Something about fire? Lava level.
Finding something hidden? Probably a maze level.
Being shot in a barrel at a wall? Dreaded Stealth Segment.

Gamer Logic, eh?
I prefer Battler Logic...

I only have it as a motivator, but it still gets the point across.

Because Bioshock has a lot of secret rooms and such.

I didnt think id get this many replies :p This is just a thing that i find common with gamers, and interesting. I myself use gamers logic. Gamers logic is simply that you go anywhere else then where the mission is, to get cool stuff! If im supposed to go up the stairs, i always explore the entire bottom floor for stuff.

I get what you're going for.

A veteran gamer will always be able to tell the signs leading up to whenever the proverbial shit will hit the fan.
Ex: Right before an important boss battle, there will be something available to allow you to regain your health/supplies. Before a final boss battle, this will be done to a major extent, allowing you to resupply everything possible.

Oh yes I see what you're saying.

I would spend hours wandering around Rapture looking for little hidden areas as well. Fun times. :)
