1: False. Games on the WiiU are already equivalent to looking like PS3 and Xbox 360 Games. Look at this image:lordmardok said:1. We are not angry because it's coming out on a console we don't own. If it was coming out on the PS4 we'd be ecstatic. We're angry because it's coming out on a console with the processing power of a potato. This means that the game will be subpar and will probably be lacking any of the really meaty aspects we would expect from next gen game. Bayonetta had great visual flair, lets face the reality of it, Nintendo does not have a great track record for that kind of thing.
2. We're also angry because it's being mishandled. It's exclusivity was sold to a company with a terribly history of buggering up the bunghole any games that it try's to make look 'serious'. We all remember the "Other M" debacle. Universally panned by anyone with a working brain. In short, we're not just angry. We're terrified. Bayonetta is actually a pretty cool character in a pretty cool universe with some really cool powers. Nintendo has a history of showing up and diligently ruining everything cool about it's games with the kind of dedication most people would put into making something decent.
It would seem to me the majority refuse to consider it for no reason other than it is a Nintendo console.Tony2077 said:some have considered it and said it isn't worth itSpAc3man said:Why won't people just consider getting a Wii U? It will be the most powerful console when it comes out. Don't see why the hate is warranted at all.
Honestly, if it doesn't do well and there is still a call for it on the other systems there will probably be a port anyway.Gameslayer_93 said:never understood this rage, its all about patience tbh, if the game does well chances are it'll get ported to other consoles, if not then it probably isn't worth your time
Exactly, but the point to take from that is it was protests COMBINED with a boycott that actually had a spine, which is much more effective than either alone.Treblaine said:And you know what really REALLY worked for the Civil Rights movement: protesting. Protesting the shit out of it, huge massive marches that shamed the establishment into rectifying the injustices. Boycotts alone didn't get the accomplishments the Civil Rights movement did get for minorities in America.
Here is the thing, with the way Nintendo and other companies launch products it's too late to boycott.Atmos Duality said:Right. I've calmed down.

(it is here where I diverge from Jim Sterling's perspective)
The difference today is the form of scale. Gaming is a global business now.
It isn't enough to ruin a company's image. PR can dismiss you as the vocal minority and carry on. I've seen it. I've experienced it. It's remarkably common in the telecoms business.
To be effective, you need to make it clear that your movement represents SIGNIFICANT BUSINESS to them. The sooner those companies draw the correlation between outrage, boycotts, and falling profits, the more likely you are to get what you want.
Mass Effect 3 was the first time I ever saw anger over a game at such a scale, but now that seems to be escalating.
However, it's still primarily stuck in a mob-mentality; proverbial pitchforks and torches.
Without organization or open coherent thought, it's just petulant whining. They may have a goal, but their targets are amorphous, striking out at whoever may support the object of their ire (even if the victim has little to no say in the matter).
Also, there always exists the real possibility that due to legal/financial entrapment, you won't get what you want regardless of protest. Japanese game ports are becoming increasingly uncommon, and Nintendo is no different. Personally, I'm surprised Bayonetta 2 got picked up at all.
(I'm guessing Japanese Publishers don't want to trade down to us. Socially, I don't know why they have withdrawn so much from the gaming market).
I feel like you're missing the point spectacularly. It doesn't matter how much they cram into the thing, the fact of the matter is it's still just a bunch of gimmicks thrown together to appeal to those with a shorter attention span. And even if you're talking about the tech, you've provided a piss-poor example of the graphical capabilities. Each of those cells is, what, 490 by 250? (eyeballing it) It doesn't "prove" that either looks better than the other, because neither is at its best. It's like a drag race with a maximum allowed speed of 40 kph, and the WiiU looks like it has some issues handling the turns.Mr.Mattress said:bunch of irrelevant stuff
1: Okay, you can claim that Touch screen tech is a gimmick (Even though it has been used over and over again and it works), but then what about the Kinnect? The Move? The dumb Smart Glasses? Are they not gimmicks?mjcabooseblu said:I feel like you're missing the point spectacularly. As for that second point...so? To you people, games like MadWorld and Conkers BFD are "mature?" At this point you're just asking to be ridiculed.
There isn't much else to say, apart from this:Treblaine said:See, you aren't disputing a SINGLE PART of Jim Sterling's argument... you are simply rejecting it, denying it, no refutation.

No wonder why you thought I was wrong and I thought you avoided your original posts. I wasn't quoting you at all! XD Sorry about that, no hard feelings.lordmardok said:The point of: "Well a game coming out with some restrictions is better than it not coming out at all" is a fallacious argument. While the less loquacious of our gamer community lacks the ability to accurately express the reasons for our rage it does not lessen the anger by any means so let me clear some points.
1. We are not angry because it's coming out on a console we don't own. If it was coming out on the PS4 we'd be ecstatic. So there you have it. Anytime you see an angry nerd rage rant or something like that, take a step back and remember that in reality these are probably fairly reasonable people who are just putting out the extreme to show a point. Only a truly idiotic person would take the "I'm going to kill myself over this game" yell seriously because frankly no matter how it turns out it's a win. If they're just being extreme to make a point then that's fine, if they would really do that then it removes them from the gene pool. So don't look at these posts like they're the ravings of a madman, remember that they're all actual people behind them and, while they might lack the tools to express it, have a totally legitimate grievance.
None at all. We may be in the wicked shit but no time like the present to pull out.Mr.Mattress said:Wait a minute, I wasn't quoting you at all! D:mjcabooseblu said:I just had a realization...

You're right, the Playstation was a largely untested platform. The Wii is not. Nintendo has given us no reason to believe that they will change with their newKheapathic said:I've read through the first 3-4 pages so no idea if anyone has mentioned this. Remember way way back in 1996/1997 when it was announced that Final Fantasy will no longer be on Nintendo but going to this relatively untested machine called the Playstation? If you can't then stop your whining, yes it's not ideal for the fans of the game but as long as Platinum remains in control (for the most part) I'm sure it'll be a great game. You may need to shell out a few hundred to get the Wii U to play it, but I doubt the game itself will fail.
