Sure game is art. My art teacher says that you're an artist if your work (your art) make other people feel any kind of emotion, and tell me which game that doesn't make you feel any kind of emotion, but in the other hand my art teacher is kind of weird.
Ding! Your art teacher is right. I also define art as something that provokes an emotional response. That's why so many things are art to some and not art to others. Is a video game art to a non-gamer who sees them as a big waste of time and money? No. To me, on the other hand, almost every sort of game (video, card, board, etc.) is art, and a high form of art at that.

Art is abstract. If you think something is art, it is. I personally think my sock is a work of art. Good luck proving me wrong.

I prefer gameplay over anything. I should play Simon the Sorcerer 3D just to get the storyline for Simon the Sorcerer 4

some games are art, soem aren't. all games make you some sort of emotion but with some that emotion is frustration. some...alot, of games are made just to make money (movie licenses)but others (like mgs I wasn't dissing on it I just find robots that move and have shaply legs odd...and the fear (MGS3)) are art. bioshock is art, mgs is art, hl2 is art, and portal is the mona lisa in my eyes
