I know there's already a thread of 'games everybody hates but you liked'... there's probably one of these already too, but I thought I'd see what came up. Basically, games which you just can't see the appeal of - but everybody else apparently can. For starters, I'll say the COD series. I know it's not quite as well viewed amongst hardcore gaming fans (I could be wrong, since I don't know many, but that's what I've been led to believe) but there seem to be an awful lot of teenagers forever playing and going on about COD. Can't see why, I played it, didn't think it was that good.

Halo. Admittedly I don't really like shooters much. But I remember when that game and everyone freaked out. I played it and saw nothing all that special.

FPSs in general, only Portal and Team Fortress 2 have really grabbed my attention out of every FPS I've played, which isn't a lot.

More specifically, possibly Ocarina of Time. I really enjoyed that game personally, don't get me wrong, but lots of people on the internet are under the impression that it's some sort of Gaming Bible for the amount of praise it gets, every 3D Zelda game since for me has been far superior. Better graphics, better story, more gameplay ideas, more interesting world to explore, etc.

The Final Fantasy series. I never felt anything for the characters, found the stories incomprehensible, and only enjoyed the gameplay in Crisis Core, though it was a bit repetitive.

shadow of the colossus: I didn't find it to be any good, no replay value, 90% of the game is horseback riding, and the bosses are not as varied as they should be considering the 14-16 bosses are the entire "game" part of the game.

and of course: WORLD OF WARCRAFT I seriously have had so much more fun on Champions Online.

Fallout 1 and 2, though I'm pretty sure posting this will start a flame war.

Oh my god I can't beleive I'm going to say this. But I didn't like Half-Life. It just never seemed that great. I've got nothing against the people who do like it, but it's just not that amazing to me...

WoW, never got into it the same way i did LOTRO, granted i played lotro first and made alot of friends and did pretty much everything there was to do including the LT hard mode and all that, but WoW just seemed overly crowded, complex and unfriendly to me.

Any Metriod game. I have never been able to understand the appeal. The games just never worked for me in the way they seem to for other people.

I'd probably say Ocarina of Time. It has a bit of a pacing problem, objectives can be slightly vague, especially early on, and the challenge curve just doesn't want to behave.

In fact, I think the original Legend of Zelda and Twilight Princess were pretty much the only ones I've actually managed to really enjoy.

I never got the Counter-Strike phenomenon. People seem to just go through the motions while playing it.
